Used to be, before it started to suck ass (1.6+)

I took a year long break when 1.5 came out but finally gave in and played it.

everything after 1.3 is crap in comparison :\

I was addicted at one point in my life... probably for at least 2 years. My sophomore year in college to my senior year. I've been playing for over 4 years but don't find the time to play much these days. I made it to the upper dregs of cal-m back in the day. Then I moved on to medical school and lost the free time :/

However, I do still keep up with the community regularly. It's fun to see how professional e-sports are progressing.

You do need HL-2 to run Counter-Strike: Source. Source is the engine that runs counter-strike now. HL-2 was probably the best game I've ever played... very fun but my old video card could barely handle it. You might need an upgrade if you're used to running HL-1 CS.

I was addicted to delta force a while back ago and that was my downfall.

I'm hoping the new CS:S won't be!

..... CS took away more than 1/2 the people i knew freshman and sophomore year like 3 or 4 years ago... all failed out..kicked out...most never came back...on probation...

many on campus clans back then... there were days when eveyone's door was open in the hallway and all you'd hear were gun shots

however.. i still have HL1 and HL2 and graduating this May!!! :D

I played 2-3 hours a day, maybe 5 times a week, for the past 2 years. This year one of my resolutions was to give CS up so I uninstalled in January and haven't played since.

I've got an itching to try HL2 though. :(

was addicted to it. was the only game i pretty much played for several years. I ended up completely uninstalling the game several times to avoid the temptation.

Steam is currently uninstalled. I don't plan on playing any steam related games for a while. I've got too much going on in my life. I want too much out of life to waste time on games actually.

Maybe once I get certain things in life I'm aiming for, I might take a few hours to play a game or two. who knows.

Last year I was so addicted to 1.6, and then after a while my friends started to fade into War3 and other games, and we spent a good number of hours playing mauls and DOTA. One of my friends and I would play mauls with only the 2 of us and have it down pat.

Those were the days. for memories.

Yes it is true! Most of the maps I have seen have the same layout as the old one, but with improved textures and Lighting. Go to steam and purchase it through it. Its a better deal, because you get a discount and free CS when you buy HL2. If you buy the disc you may be short changed some features and games.

source is fun, and much prettier. the new maps are just nicer:) and they've been adding maps every month or so. i play it now and then, haven't touched normal cs since. just too primitive looking, and no physics etc. not to mention source finally has useful location based radio commands.:p

I have a lot of problems with CS, and source. I won't ever be addicted to it. I was addicted to SoF2, and only played CS:S because I had played SoF2 way too long. I'm looking for some better mods for HL2, like some good TC's.
