Addicted to Counterstrike?

I was, and I got off the addiction completely, so much so that I've lost track of what's out there. I played only a few times after they released the whole steam thing.

However, I just got a new computer and I want to test my abilities again. I heard that the new Counterstrike requires Half Life 2 because of the new engine. Is this true? Can I buy HL2 and then download the counterstrike add-on? What's the deal?

it used to be fun. the last time i tried to play i kept getting killed by headshots from people i couldn't even see.

gimme a few IPs in you favorites list and your usual handle. i would love the opportunity to knife you sometime.

I'm still addicted. Better than Ever Crack, that's right I said it.

And no, you don't need HL2 to play. All of valve's stuff is done through the steam program. You will however need some sort of valid key for HL, HL2, or CS

I'm still addicted to scrimming/matches. CS is still one of the best FPS games out there because of the skill needed to do well ... not that other games dont require any skill. It's just that CS requires much more precise aim and use of strategy then most other FPS games.

No I never played CS, I was too young to afford HL so I just downloaded it (I admit to my mistakes of the past though).

But I'm addicted as fvck to CS:S right now. Have been for maybe 2 months strait now. I know its been out since August, but I've only been playing it the last two months or so.

The thing is, I'm pretty good. People that have played for 5+ years (since CS and CS:S are basically the same) are really the only people that consistantly kick my a$$, and its usually the awp. 440 damage through a wall is just ludicris.

Are there alot of players on CS:S? Do I need steam for CS:S?

I'm buying HL2 now!

Yes you do. The only way to get CS:S is to buy HL2. You CS:S is part of the install of HL2, it's not an addon that you download.

I'm an ex Quaker, I never played CS much but I did play at some LANs for several hours on end a few times.

good game.

The hit detection in CSS is retarded. I watch people get kills shooting completely behind their targert.

Other times, I will shoot someone with an AK, when the only part of their body I can see is the head, and yet this somehow does not register as a headshot and hits them for only 15 or something.

the custom maps make CS more interesting too.

i used to play de_rats on an average of about 20 hours a week, mostly because I could absolutely pwn everything in sight with a m4 colt, i'd average a score of like 60 kills to 10 deaths on a regular basis 😀

Nope.

I use to play it more in the 1.3 to 1.6 days with 3-5 of us online at the same time and that was fun. Use roger wilco and it was great for us. Not having some random guy speak but us. But now I don't play it anymore.
