Gotta check it out further, but does the Kaspersky have a firewall built in ? I have Zonealarm also and they seem to be doing the same job.

Kaspersky Antivirus Personal 5 + ZoneAlarm free version is what I use since I'm on dial-up, but if you have broadband, get a router and lock it down good. Being local software, ZoneAlarm can be fooled, and if you had a backdoor going, then it seems that it indeed was being fooled.

I've been using the Panda version that's free for IT people... Have it at home, works pretty well. You just have to put up with thier calling/emailing trying to get you to use it at work. But I'm a programmer, I don't make those decisions. I just passed it on to the network people (glad I'm out of that chore now).

And they do call and e-mail over and over and over again... I've told them I'm not interested twice now, hopefully they leave me alone.

I will tell you something very fishy about the ad aware.
Yes i got mine from lavasoft....
First time i ran the scan nothing,then a day later all of a sudden i have a ton of malware stuff.

it is also only a 30 day trial ,so yes you will be asked to pay after 30 days ,unless i guess you d/l a new copy and erase detection of old.

The other bothersome thing is ,the scan found 1200 LOL in the first 30 seconds,yet runs for 90+ minutes and found nothing more.It almost seems like the program itself upload some minimal stuff to get people to be afraid and but their program.Now i would think it impossible as someone would have found out by now,they would be sued and never in business under that name.

There is of course that ALWAYS there contract you must sign before getting the program.Of course that always states they are not responsible for anything and with internet laws still being archaic,they get off Scott free if caught.

Last point is that a Router means nothing,they are easily hacked,my isp even brags about how easy it is to hack into them.

Basically it says the new owners used to be big scam artists who setup tons of phony sites.Anyhow these guys own ad aware,can anyone really trust a scammer gone good?

I didn't realize people still used lavasoft's adaware. I think I dumped it a number of years ago when it introduced services and kept crashing.
