Seems to be a bit of mixed message...I don't think Lexus ever built a real econobox like Acura.

Acura wasn't designed to be a true luxury brand like Mercedes, etc. Honda wanted it to be a step up from Honda, and that is all. It is only recently that Honda is pushing for Acura to carry models with more "luxury".

The Integra has been with Acura since it's inception. Acura wasn't designed to be a true luxury brand like Mercedes, etc. Honda wanted it to be a step up from Honda, and that is all. It is only recently that Honda is pushing for Acura to carry models with more "luxury".

heh...Senna didn't think it needed a V8. And he freaking test drove the car during its development. He was a rather big part of the development of the NSX. And for that the NSX will always be special.
You can't really put a price on a car that Senna helped design.

Senna would have tested the car in the mid to late 80's. The car was introduced in '90 I believe. It's nearly 15 years later now. $90k will get you a state of the art 911 S these days not to mention a gaggle of other cars for even less money instead of a relic of Bush Sr's administration.
Everyone and their grandma has a V8 (or some uber jacked up 6) nowadays. I think that the new Carrera S is throwing down a 355+ HP gauntlet and the GT3, GT2, Turbo are all serving up more. You've got $50k Corvettes laying down 500HP with sharp handling to boot. Not to mention Ferrari's new 430 and the Gallardo and the Ford GT.
Hell, you can get 300HP in a 350Z now (2005 Track/Anniversary model) and friggin' minivans are tossing out 255HP (a Honda no less). Given how much the NSX weighs (~3,150 lbs), 290 is nothing these days in the face of a 500HP Vette, 550HP Ford GT, 500HP Lambo Gallardo, and a 500HP Ferrari 430.
But, there's always the argument that HP isn't everything...but in today's times with the exception of featherweights like the Elise, it is...

I didn't even know that Senna was involved in the development of the NSX. Whenever I think NSX, I always associate it with Alex Zanardi for obvious reasons![]()

ah you tell me about the G35... it is still a fantastic car if you ask me but it is really getting a bit too common...

OK, makes sense, but it seems to me that Integra is pretty much exactly the same thing as Civic.
