I'm not sure if anybody is really a part of ISIS. You either sympathize with the movement and believe in the caliphate, or you don't. So if she pledged allegience, she's no different than ISIS fighters in syria.
The caliphate has no borders. There's this cool thing called the internet...

Maybe if you understood that the refugee process is already quite intensive you wouldn't be so susceptible to conservative propaganda calling for more intense scrutiny where none is needed. Maybe if you understood all these issues a little deeper than just sound bites you would see that it is increasingly unlikely that this incident is tied to ISIS and completely unrelated to the refugees.

Yet this man was able to travel to the ME and marry his internet mail order/arranged/whatever bride and bring her back to the US readily on a fiance visa and she was able to get residency.

So... You wonder why people have a hard time believing that any process in place in stringent enough?

That's exactly my point! ISIS isn't an organization with borders. You either believe in the ISIS movement, or you don't.
Cool man. It should also be noted that technically ISIS (the organization) does have borders, otherwise they wouldn't be recognized by muslims as a legit caliphate (and as a result, movement). We need to get those borders back in syria asap, although Russia has the lead on that one (and more incentive now).

The fact that he was driving the SUV while his wife was shooting at the police with a sophisticated high caliber assault rifle means she was not just another ordinary house wife. Most American women can operate a hand gun but not an assault rifle, let alone shoot from the back of a SUV while the husband driving.

Late to the party on this one... but...

High Caliber? Do you know anything about firearms at all? .223/5.56 is not a high caliber round. It is a high velocity round certainly. Try .308/7.62 if you want high caliber.

I was watching the news this am and caught the bit with the two lawyers for the shooter's family talking about how the family was in disbelief. One ever suggested that weighing only 90 pounds it would have been impossible for her to wear a vest, carry ammo and fire that big bad scary rifle.

Yet she was able to carry a baby to term with probably more weight than all her supplies and weapons that day. Yet, one of my old girlfriends had no problem firing long guns and the bigger the recoil the better.

Want to go shooting? You would learn a lot.

Was PP shooting Christian terrorism? Or still searching for motive?

That was Christian Terrorism.

But why is it so difficult to call a spade a spade in this case?

Does anyone know yet? Whats the final verdict? Islamic terrorism or is it something else. (Guy had a bad day at work etc..?)

I'd say it's terrorism just based on the level of preparation and the wife being involved. But on the other hand, it looks like there are still accomplices out there, so I understand the authorities not showing their cards at this point.

Do you know any mother's that would side with their husband's bad day at work and leave their child behind like that?

From authorities, we do know this was planned in advance.

It is Islamic Terrorism. Shit, call it faith based terrorism if you want a compromise. Can we at least associate this shooting with external influences whether direct or indirect?

And why is it so hard for you to type in your local left-leaning news website? It's all over the internet.

CNN: San Bernardino shooting: Attacker pledged allegiance to ISIS, officials say
Huffpo: WIFE LOYAL TO ISIS
Salon: If We're Doomed, Blame the GOP<----hahahaha
Washpo: Female shooter pledged allegiance to ISIS, officials say
NewYorkTime: Female Suspect Made Facebook Pledge to ISIS, Officials Say

There, that wasn't so hard now? Not going to cry are we?

PP shooting was Christian terrorism, this one was Muslim terrorism. Religion spreading it's message of peace and love yet again.....

There are no borders to their caliphate (as they see it). Technically, there are no borders. According to them, San Bernardino is ISIS' land.

EDIT: Yes, physically the have some borders, but they don't recognize them. That's my point. They'll keep pushing out until they're stopped.

Very true. I meant that technically ISIS has to possess land (which technically has a border even though they don't respect nor acknowledge borders) to claim a caliphate which then has authority to call for a jihad.

Yep, I think we were just thinking of different border concepts.

They definitely have some physical borders to contend with. But even then, they see everyone as occupying their land. Border between Turkey and Syria? Won't exist if ISIS has their way.

Well, I caught up on the news during the wee hours, particularly the interview with the two lawyers and the last-minute internet post of Malik.

Somebody said she was from Saudi Arabia, but Farook met her there during the Hajj, and she had traveled there from Pakistan.

There seems to be among us this "issue" about whether or not it's terrorism, and this somehow either reflects on the current administration or fires up knee-jerk responses from the campaigning talking heads.

The issue is really "what to do in response?"

She wasn't sent from Syria; I'd be interested to hear if she ever set foot in Syria. If it's a matter of rolling up some ISIS-committed faction in Pakistan, the Pakistanis have been battling the fanatics there for some time. And it appears she was merely radicalized online, but we'd want to know about her personal contacts there.

The attacks in Paris had a clear trail tracing back to Syria and the Turkish border. That is, the attackers may have been French Muslims, but the ringleaders had traveled to and from Syria.

In terms of long-run strategy for the short-run here-and-now, it may be that there's not much that can be done "as a response" to the San-Berdoo attack that isn't already in the works at the moment.

With Robert Dear, he was captured and is now facing murder charges. With these other lunatics, they're so eager for the afterlife that they commit suicide by cop.

My joke about apocalyptic terrorists who want to rapture themselves into Heaven to be surrounded by 70 girls dressed in sheherizade see-through clothing:

. . . So after the terrorist awakens in the next life after blowing himself to smithereens, he smells the odor of burning sulfur. "Not a problem though!" he thinks. He's surrounded by the 70 virgins.

Then, he suddenly realizes that somewhere on the boat-ride across the Styx, he had become gay . . . .
