so...i enjoy alchohol, mixed drinks, liquior on the rocks, smirnoff, all kinds of crap...but i have yet to overcome my disgust for beer. i know there is nothing that says i should love beer, but i feel awkward in some situations and left out at times. i first tried beer my senior year in high school...i let the pressure push me into getting over the taste...i got smashed..and i think it ****** up my experience...ever since then i have had VERY few beers and even the smell kind of sicks me out. i understand that it is an aquired taste and the point of this post is to find some tips on how to aquire said taste. these are tips ive gathered so far:
drink with food (pizza, hot dogs, sausage, etc)
drink a dark, strong beer (gueniss (sp), heiniken) the drink a light one to taste the dif.
start off with super light beers and work your way up, preferably with premium beers

does anyone else have any tips to offer? i really enjoy foods and drinks of all kiinds and i really love finding a food i thought i would never like and aquire a tste for it (sushi is now my favorite food of all time)

cliffs:
i dont like beer but want to
give me tips on aquiring a taste for beer

If you don't like the taste of it, then don't drink it. Screw trying to aquire a taste for it, stick to what you like, and say "screw you" to any friends that laugh at you.

i completely understand the logic behind this and i do tell them to fvck off...a lot...
ive just decided that i want to try and like it...i have many reasons but the main ones are because i want to expand my taste buds, if that makes sense, and i want to be able to experience some certain social atmospheres

I didn't like beer at first, but I just drank it till I acquired the taste for it. Also, not all beer is created equal, at high school or college parties you are probably getting the bottom of the barrel cheapest beer there is. IF you think you don't like beer and all youve tried is Natty Light and Milwaukie's Best then I am sorry for you becasue you have missed out on all the good beers that there are (ITs like saying you don't like soft drinks becasue Sams Cola tastes like ass).

I am the opposite. I don't like liquor and mixed drinks, but I really enjoy beer. I will drink liquor if my goal is to get drunk, but i'd never just have a 'drink' of it like I do with beer.

Best method to get used to it is to start drinking a lot of it all the time.

Table the idea for this year. Next year, wait until the weather gets really hot. Buy a 12 pack of some mild stuff, like Coors Light, or Bud Light, put it in a cooler to chill, like right before you do something like mow the lawn, wash your car, or clean the garage. When you get done, and not before, crack an "Ice cold beer", and drink it. It was damn good, wasn't it? :)

That's the way you like an Ice cold beer! :)

Years of drinking to get drunk with friends for cheap seemed to have worked for my.

I don't think theres a trick or anything, just takes time to get.

It is an unwritten law: You must Love Beer, so get the false notion out of your head that you don't! :|

Few things to try/know:

1) don't drink crap! "Beer" is as varied as wine, drink the good stuff

2) Try different Beers until you find one you like

3) Don't drink so much. If you drink yourself to puking, you'll just end up hating what made you puke. It's a natural thing.

4) Your tastes will change. When I first drank Beer I had my favorites, but over the years I found new favorites and have found my old one's to be the "meh".

Go to a brewery with friends and order a taster. If you don't like, pass it off and order something else. bottom line, you'll need to drink it in order to acquire the taste for it. I never liked it when I was younger either. During my college years, we used to go out and get pounded playing drinking games. Beer was much cheaper so that's what I had to drink. Now, I can't keep my hands off of it. In fact, I might go get some during my lunch break. I love working in NYC. :)

binge drinking. funnels. keg stands. flip cup. beer pong.

these methods will sufficiently help you acquire a taste for beer. Best if these methods are used frequently and in combination of one another.

The more you dirnk it, the more you eventually like it. But start with something good and not some crap beer as that never tastes good.

I'd go with Leinenkugels Honey Weiss if you can get that where you are. That's my favorite beer.

Yeah, I feel the same way. But I gave up on liking beer and just drink liquor. When I play beer pong though I force myself to drink it.

It's just something that you start to like over time. Much like coffee, it's not something that you drink the first time and think "THIS STUFF IS GREAT!". It's just a very different type of drink that abuses your taste buds the first few times until you start to expect the flavor.

You might get used to it and come to like it, or you might not. Everyone has different tastes. Just don't force it.
