While it is quite vain, I'd have to say losing your hair is one of the worst things to go through.

I'm a diffuse thinner. Basically, my hair doesn't recede--it just falls out all over the top evenly. It has even thinned around the ears, sideburns and around the back of my head where the hair meets the neck.

Many guys who have hair loss experience it over years so they can get accustomed to it. I've had about 18 months from the point I noticed it thinning, until now--point of no return.

I've decided to bic it rather than doing the George Kostanza wrap around..that just looks too damn goofy (at least at my age).

Gave propecia and nizoral 6 months. No difference. I'm guessing that it is due to my specific type of hair loss--if you are a normal Male Pattern Balder (MPB), count your blessings because they seem to get some good results.

In a years time I think I'll get a hair transplant so that I can have a little coverage on top, and keep it very short--avoiding the total cueball look. I'll grow it out like #2 buzz length or thereabouts. Hair transplants generally lack, so I won't try to grow it like regular hair.

Figured I'd save the dudes on here who are starting to bald some time. Try the big three (propecia, rogaine and nizoral), but if it doesn't work then too bad--out of your control. I read lots of hair loss forums but most of the natural and alternative remedies they suggest are outright laughable. When it comes down to it, most guys are in denial and want to believe that rubbing some magic $90 cream into your head makes a difference. It won't.

The faster you get over this, the faster you can get back to what matters in life.

I finally took the jump and buzzed most of my hair off yesterday. Feels great, and doesn't look half bad.

How old are you? Baldness absolutely sucks if you're still in your 20's, but I figure I can handle it if/when it happens in my 30's.

Just turned 24. My father is bald, but didn't lose his hair until he was 33 or 34. 10 years more than me!

I saw older guys in their 30s and 40s on hair loss forums saying it was just as hard for them, but I have my doubts.

I'm just entering the best part of my life right now -- finished college with a 4.0 and busted my arse working part time while going to school. Over the past year I've become more health conscious and even thought about amature bodybuilding (great discipline and management skills involved, as well as health, confidence and vanity). Try to improve my image and this happens. Gawd.

I figured I had longer; the past 6 months have been horrible in terms of rapid/advanced loss.

At least when you're older you've had your chance and got a good run from the dating scene etc. For me it just became that much harder. Finally I get out and making money only to lose my hair!

I'm thinking that given my height (6'4), and my frame, I might be able to pull off the Suge Knight look if I grow a beard. (Instead of fat I'll be bulked up with muscle from the weights.)

Better check your grandpa on your mom's side. That's where the hairloss gene comes from.
