Start from open G, A, Bb, C, D, Eb, F, G (on D string), A, Bb, C, D, Eb, F, G (on E string), and shift. At least that's how I remember it...

Are you sure? I thought for melodic you take the key signature of the major scale and sharp the sixth and seventh notes?

I don't know if this is too late.
But here's the fingering from the my Carl Flesch scale book.

start from G, play 4th fingers, no open strings, shift to 3rd on A-string, 5th position on E string. Use a 4th finger extension for the high G. Coming back down: 432-321-321......etc Use open strings this time.

"-" means shift.

Hope that helps
