At 1680X1050, I don't know if that qualifies for "high end gaming". Not a bad deal if your looking for pure real estate and you use a mid grade graphics card.

Same difference as 19 inch monitors with same resolution as 17 inch monitors. Im on a 19 inch monitor and although i know the pixel is bigger than on a 17 inch, it looks clear enough to game/do everything on.

That just means that everything is a little bigger and text is easier to see. For those of us without 20/20 vision, that's a good thing.

Keep in mind that LCD's are inherently 100% sharp. Any monitor being driven at its native resolution will look crisp.

Big up for Costco's return policy, it will ensure that nobody gets stuck with dead pixels.

I wish I had the money, it would be a nice upgrade from my 17" CRT.

If you had my eyesight you'd think that was a heck of a good idea. :)

Bump again, anybody have any gaming experience with this. I'm really tempted but would like to see what others think. If you bought it, what city/state was ur costco in?

Good deal, thanks OP.
Will take that into consideration but man I really hate going to Costco. Every time I go in I come up with a load of credit card debt...

Just bought one of these 22" Acers.
I caved and picked one up at my local costco, which was pretty difficult since they seem to be flying off the shelves. I had to drive 1hr. to find a costco that had it in stock and I got the last one. Yesturday, on my acer 22" costco adventure, I also picked up a 20"ws princeton (8ms)that costco had for $250, but mostly for comparison and a back up if i didn't find this acer. I have to say that for $250 bucks, the princeton is pretty nice and hard to beat for the price...but, its color reproduction is aweful, there is no depth of colors. BTW, I'm comparing these to my dearly beloved Viewsonic VP191b which is a great 19" with fantastic color ability(I think the VP191b is a 8bit panel, so keep that in mind when I mention the color abilities of these monitors). So the Princeton gets a C- for color accuracy, but teh Acer gets an A- or B+ and is far superior to the Princeton IMHO. I'd have to say the Acer is a tad bit sharper than the Princeton and equal with my Viewsonic. Ghosting is a nonissue on both, but was the tiniest bid apparant on my old viewsonic.

Gaming: Games look great on both, for color the Acer wins hands down. For Ghosting/shadowing(as i now call it, since its more like a tight shadow than a ghost) the Princeton wins but just barely and I doubt anyone but the most pickiest will notice(I am VERY picky with ghosting). Oblivion looks fantastic on the Acer and good on the princeton, GuildWars looks better on the Acer. BF2 looks WAY better on the Acer, period. BF2 colors are complimentary to the Acer's abilites. For some reason I noticed some grainy textures with the Princeton, but not with the Acer. I've never noticed this with any other monitor before so I'm at a loss as to what to call it.

CONCLUSION:

Both at 1680x1050, and no dead pixels, BTW. If all you got is 250 bucks and you just game, you'd be hard pressed to beat the Princeton on the Price/performance ratio. If you are color picky, like myself, you will have to spend a little more. IMO, the extra hundred it will cost you for the ACER 22" is well worth it. For that hundred bucks you get 19% more screen area, far better color reproduction ability, wider and taller screen, faster response time(5ms vs. 8ms, which I have to say is TOTALLY unnoticeable), and IMO a better all around monitor.
The princeton will be going back tomorrow and the Acer has a new home.
If you have any other questions, please ask them here in the forum and I'll try to get back to you.

Camera busted so no photos yet, sorry. Just an update. I notice the slightest amount of ghosting, or blurring in BF2, about the same as with my viewsonic vp191b, so not much...and I'm being really picky hear. I haven't found the perfect settings for it yet, but its still pretty nice out of the box, huge too. Like a 19" with an extra 4 inches in width. make sure your gfx card can handle the extra res. I'm running a dual care opteron 185 @ 2.8ghz with a x1900xt and it's totally fine, but I'd be cautious if you had a much weaker card. Mine just went from everything on at 70fps to everything on at 60fps, but a weaker card might take quite a hit from the34% more pixels on the screen going from 1280x1024 to 1680x1050. Just a thought guys.

BTW, how do you add pics here anyway, only a link works?

Pixel pitch?

Wait and see on this one. But looks good so far.

No desire to get a 20" now.

Only concern is if the pixel pitch is to big. Over .29 would be worse that a 19" LCD.

Most 20" LCD are around .255

Dot pitch is .284. Info here and here. Nice reivew here comparing the Acer to a 22" Westinghouse with similar specs (the Acer won).

Bump for nice deal, and Costco's AMAZING return policy.
