Access my home internet connection through internet?

I really need to find a way that allows me to connect to my home computer network through a VPN or to a proxy, to allow me to access and access the net through my internet connection at home. The problem, I have to do this over the internet, and on the other side of the world while I am traveling. I have been looking at hamachi and freeproxy, but I have not been able to figure out how to get that working for the purpose. So what is the best solution to this scenario? Using remote desktop etc. is not an option since I need to be able to use my webcam for conference etc.

logmein (hamachi) works well for establishing a LAN like connection over the internet. It does not allow me to use the internet connection of the remote computer I connect to. Which is what I need. Any suggestions on how to solve that part?

what kind of router are you using at home? If it one that is compatible with one of the DD-WRT firmware. you can install the VPN edition of the DD-WRT firmware and configure it different vpn options.

DD-WRT

The logic eludes me. If you are on the Internet to access your home PC via Internet, why would you want to further log on the Internet? You still have to maintain the international connection you started with. I see nothing to be gained by that. Also, I travel abroad a lot, and I have GoToMyPC - I can do what you say - but it would require that I leave my home machine ON while I am travelling. I don't think that is a very good idea.

Tor is not usable in this context.
I just need to use the connection at home when I am on the other side of the world. And I need all my internet traffic to be routed that way. DLG-4300 Gaming router is the router I have at home.
Standard remote desktop access through software is not going to allow me to run the software I will use on my laptop. Sure i can run most of the software that way. But not all. Thats why I need this setup.

Why are you trying to do this? If you just need to connect through an IP that originates from your home country, it'd be more efficient to use a proxy server instead of leaving your home computer on.

That is part of my question above - but the main part is, in order to use any secondary Internet connection, you still have to be running the overseas connection, and you will be paying for that.

When I am in Europe, I usually connect to the Internet via T-Mobile or AT&T. In South Africa I used a satellite link. I access all my email, financial, brokerage, and forum accounts, etc. directly. Why go through a secondary connection?

And, . . . you are wrong about GoToMyPC not being able to access the Internet on Computer when connected from Computer 1 via the Internet. I just did it. On my Vista machine, I got on the Internet and accessed GTMP. AFter entering the correct login and access codes, I was then seeing my XP machine on screen. I then selected IE8 and got on the Internet from the XP machine. Yes - it can be done. But why? I was already on the Internet and could access anything from laptop that I could from my Desktop. ???

Maybe the answer is to have all the necessary software installed also on your laptop.

Oh yes - where exactly is the webcam? Laptop or home system? Have you considered GoToMeeting - also by Citrix? (GoToMeeting.com)

Another option is that he may be wanting to cover his tracks by using the home system
