<< I was an RA as well...what that meant was that my room was the offical place to stash the booze in 🙂 >>

Man, why couldnt I get a giy like you as my RA. My RA is a real prick, especially in regards to alcohol. On that note, I think I will head to my fridge here at home and grab a beer

EDIT: btw, in my opinion, ppl who are drunk tend to be more honest, and care less about what others think.

En vino veritas

One more thing: I kind of understand where WhiteKnight is coming from. I wouldnt want my gf to be the kind that gets drunk every weekend but rather the one that drink socially, meaning she doesn't drink to get drunk.

Thats just me tho, your mileage may vary 😛

One other thing, for *most* of these people these drinking parties are a phase. For some it will not be, but for many it will just pass with time. Many people do it to feel socially accepted, others do it because they hate their liver or something.

Once you get out of college, work a 9-5 job, and have real responsibilities, much of the allure of alcohol is gone. I have times where I cut loose and have a pitcher or two of beer, but that's usually at a lan party or at the bowling alley. I only do that about once a month. Other than that, I have a beer or two every other day or so when I get home from work.

What do you consider "drinking"? One beer? Two beers? A six pack? Condeming someone for drinking a beer with their dinner is down right retarded if you ask me. A 16 oz glass of pop is worse for your body than a twelve ounce light beer. Would you not date a woman for having a drink or two with her dinner?

As I said in the beginning, it's *probably* just a phase. Chances are she'll eventually grow out of it.

<< You are quite correct, drinking alcohol shouldn't be the only thing at the event. >>

What are you looking for at a frat party? A rousting game of scrabble?

What? You've never played porno scrabble?

Sheesh!

😀

<< meaning she doesn't drink to get drunk >>

No such thing as "not drinking to get drunk", if you're drinking you're doing it for the affect that alcohol has, i.e. drunkeness. If you didn't want to get drunk you'd drink a coke instead.

Bring someone with you.

<< d;ude, if yer gonna post something... at least make the topic "anyone else dislike drinking"

then post "i sure dont"

if yer gonna post statements, MAKE THEM INTERESTING!!!

otherwise bring forth a question.. or something to talk about! >>

umm.. now we know he's drunk 😀

Bah. Some alcohols are known to compliment certain meals quite well and are just another flavor. If people just drank to get drunk, we'd only have cheap hooch, no good wines, etc

bobber fett - its possible to drink because you enjoy the taste and not for the effect

whiteknight - i understand where youre coming from and your disgust with the whole frat scene. if you really wanna be with lauren though, youre gonna have to compromise and put up with that scene sometimes. no way around it. if you have other friends that dont drink then take them along. my best friend and i used to have a good time at parties without drinking. it made us more comfortable cause both of us werent drinking and we got pressured to drink less.

oh and dont get drunk for the experience. its not fun.

I enjoy a drink or two every now and then. I don't care to get drunk and it isn't easy for me to anyways.

I don't know what drinking has to do with your problem... sounds like the problem is that you're a prude. Either have fun, or stop going to those parties. And no, you don't NEED to be drunk to have fun, but it certainly is easier (and better imo). I know a couple of guys that don't drink, and they have fun at those kinds of party... i think they're mentally unstable already, so that's probably why they don't need alcohol or any other substances to make them whacky. But personally, how much fun can you really expect when everybody is doing one thing, and you're not?

It has nothing to do with drinking, the same can be said of going to a superbowl party... if you're the only one there that is not interested in football, how much fun are you going to have? Either join the party, or don't go.

<< How can I feel more comfortable? >>

It seems like it has very little to do with the alcohol, and more with you and who you are around.

I'll put it this way: I feel uncomfortable at parties where everyone is drinking and I'm around people I don't know/like. When I'm at a party where everyone is drinking and I like the people I'm around (most would call this social drinking), I feel fine.

I don't drink any more, but when I used to I would get really drunk, and thats fun for a while, but eventually it just turns out bad, and yeah, its only fun when you're with a bunch of your close friends having a kickback or something, not like a frat party, those are teh gay 🙂

Shut up and drink!!!

🙂

I agree that the frat party scene....well, the many drunk obnoxious people scene in general, for that matter isn't all that fun. However, gett schlossed with a few close friends is one of the best times you can have. I'll never forget last year's Halloween party. Like only 15 people, keg of rolling rock, 2 flasks of Kamikaze and a flask of Long Island Iced Tea and whatever everyone else brought to the party....waht a great time.

Getting smashed with the one you love can be fun, too! If it wasn't so late, I'd break out the Scotch, but I have to work at 8 🙂

wow....you people are wussies.....

the cheap bear tastes bad so Im gonna sulk in the corner while my pals have a blast. jesus christ, suck it up and just TRY to have a good time
