Amusing that the abuser just removed its ears but the Humane Society will no doubt remove its genitals, a much more important organ to the animal that alters behavior and capability more when removed.

Seems like all the asshats come out in the pet cruelty threads.

If you for any reason identify with the person who does these types of things or feel compelled to defend their actions, diaf.

it's a pissing contest! for the record, i do think that the act was cruel, but my parents cut the foreskin off my penis :Q

Uh, I think loss of the ability to hear will affect the cat's behavior quite a bit too. But I see your point.

You can hear just fine without the cartilage around the ear. Remember, the drums and important business is on the inside.

Hearing capacity and directionality are both severely reduced.

sickening and i find it quite ironic that several purebred dogs have their ears and tails cut off and no one seems to care.

Was thinking the same thing; it's not inherently cruel to cut off an animal's ears if it's done properly.

Of course, this just goes further to the double standard between dogs and cats.

Cat: "Don't cut the ears off, it's cruel. Let it roam around all night and claw at your car if it wants to, cats roam naturally."

Dog: "Floppy ears and a long tail? Cut that stuff off, man. If you take that thing out of your yard, it better be on a leash and you better pick the dogpies up OR ELSE."

Cat owners make me sick.

Claw at your car? WTF?

Yeah, you want pics? I can show you claw marks on my 91 vette where it was trying to open the fuel door. Funny, the owner denies all responsibility... :|

Maybe you should park that precious antique in your garage...

Cutting the ears off a kitten is cruel. The person who did this should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Oh, and I will continue to let my cat roam the neighborhood but not my dog. The cat is fixed, she doesn't damage anyone's property and she's very friendly.

i've picked enough cat turds out of my mom's back patio to prove otherwise.

Maybe if she was nicer to them they wouldn't shit on her patio.

Cats are very perceptive you know. 😛

And maybe I should build an electrified fence around my property. Or would that infringe on the cat's rights?

It's illegal for a person to vandalize my car while it sits outside, how you can defend the actions of a cat I will never know.

Well, maybe you should.

Got forbid something should happen to a 16 year old Chevy you cherish so much that you leave out every night...at the mercy of the menacing claws of your neighbor's cat.

I'd be kinda curious what percentage of the people that are condemning the perpetrator in this thread have had their own children circumcised.

We live in a society where it's just fine for parents to have their baby's ears pierced when they're 1 year old, because it's cute. We allow a hunk of skin to be sliced off a little boy's penis.

I have to withhold comment about the cat's ears because I don't know how much pain such a procedure would cause -- if carried out properly. I don't know how the procedure was done. I don't know how sharp the knife was. I'll assume it was cruel, but I don't know how it would compare to, say, having an emasculator or elastrator used on it.

In fact, for the average male 18-22 years of age, if he was faced with a choice between having an ear chopped off and having an elastrator or emasculator used on him, I'll bet a decent percent would say "Yeah, that's okay. I'll just tell everyone I'm a big Van Gogh fan." Come to think of it, one of my little goats is going to be walking bow-legged tomorrow. Poor guy.
