Absolutely loving Zelda OoT on my 3DS

Did they ever actually *finish* those texture packs? Back in the day when I was looking at them, they only replaced like half the textures, and it looked kinda bizarre.

In either case, link please.

I'm using the 2009 version, and pretty much everything is retextured. The only stuff not retextured, is some of the interiors... it looks out of place, but overall the game still looks a lot better after the texture change.

So, here's the 2009 version. The creator (Djipi) is currently working on a 2011 version, but there's no indication when it'll be ready.

Also, I couldn't get the texture pack to work with the Project64 emulator... spit out an error message halfway through loading it. Basically the texture pack is too big. Luckily though, the 1964 emulator loads it without a problem. And quite frankly, from what I've seen, it's the better emulator.

Have you played any of the other Zelda titles since then on consoles and handhelds? Wind Waker, Twilight Princes, Spirit Tracks, etc?? I've loved all of these (though I haven't played WW yet).

WW was very good. I liked it a lot. I've played every Zelda game except of course the 3DO ones. I'm a huge fan of the games.

Haha lol the 3DO ones are an industry wide joke. Huge fan of the series too. Got to get WW and play me some of that soon.

I thought Majora's Mask was the worst PoS game that I've ever played.

For best Zelda games, it's a tie with LtP and Ocarina for me. ...I never had an N64, so I only got to play Ocarina sparingly and once-through.

I probably went through LttP a dozen times. (I think these are some of the best games I've ever played, too)

Did you actually play through MM? It is weird, but it is #5 on my list of Zelda games (OoT, Awakening, LttP, Ages/Seasons, MM). It was weird, but the characters and stories were incredibly advanced for a Zelda game. It was the only Zelda game that made me emote...I felt like crying in some moments.

But all the best parts are at the end of long quests on the final day, or small hidden nuances noticble usually on the final day.

I thought WW was the best of all the ones you listed. A good game with personality.

I thought TP was boring and not fresh, and it is my least favorite of all console Zelda games.

Spirit Tracks and Phantom Hourglass weren't great either; the older Zelda handhelds were all much better. However, of the two, I would say that Spirit Tracks is the better game.

WW is still the low point of the series to me. The sailing around was SO boring. Having to play those stupid melodies to change the wind direction made it even worse. The game only had half the dungeons it should have had, with the game filled out by that ridiculous sail around the world fetch quest at the end.

The kicker was that short sequence in the end when you actually got to run around on a bit of overworld and it really put on display how glorious the game could have been with a proper overworld to explore than that barren ocean.

Still, the dungeons were great, and I loved the art style. If they ever made a cut down version of the game without any of the sailing, I'd prob have a good time with it, but man, I could never imagine wanting to ever touch that game again the way it was.

From what I've read WW seems to be a love it or hate it type of game for many.

nah, I couldn't get past the concept as others have said--too much time limit, too much backtracking and plotting involved.

it's not that I don't like complex or unique, I like that they went way outside the box to try something unique--but to me, in the end, it fell completely flat. I had no desire to progress b/c I felt completely stifled by the mechanics.

I also played it in an emulator, I think, and it may have been a bit buggy. :hmm:

Which emulator? N64 emulation has always been a little hit or miss but Project64 and or 1964 both seem fairly stable for most things.

well i finally picked this up today at walmart for $29. the 3d on this is amazing. i forgot how awesome OoT was. haven't played since the N64 release. anyway, after a bit i am disoriented by the 3d.....seems shaky at times. getting old i guess

I just fired up OoT using one of my old Gamecube discs. I forgot how much I love this game. The disc also has Majora's Mask, which I never played, so I may need to fire that one up next since I'll already be somewhat accustomed to the graphics.
