Here is some pics of my brand new system as well. Wow, even though mine was expemsive, it still seems kinda drawfed by yours, looks like there is another comp in my future.

thanks rodrigu3. i couldn't help but notice your icon. it seems like every time i build a new rig, i feel almost like an expectant father pacing around a hospital waiting room hoping for "ten fingers, ten toes, two eyes, two ears, two lips and a nose" an all that, with a doctor look'in just like your icon coming out of the delivery room with nothing but (hopefully) good news.;)

edit - looks like you got alot of heavy-hitting parts of your own. nice stuff. congrats. as to dwarfing - nah, i just stacked the parts up against a wall so it looks deceiving.;)

Hey tweaker2, you bought some nice toys!
How 'bout I bring a case of beer, and we'll do a nice Sunday build? :D

What's with people and SLI? It's such a waste. nVIDIA's next card will probably be $500-600 and outperform the previous generation in SLI anyway.

old hippie, what you're describing there is what i consider to be a little slice of heaven right here on earth. it is alot of fun. especially when the build fires up for the first time without a hitch, stabilizes, passes the ritual torture tests and the tweaks just makes it go faster and faster and....whoops....i need to step away from this keyboard for a bit. now i can't wait for the case to get here. i better go out and mow the lawn or something.

jonmcc33, i think i wanted to try another sli setup for two reasons:

1. because i can.:p

2. the last time i set up an sli rig it was using two 3dfx voodoo2 cards in a box that featured a generic mobo with 430tx chipset, intel 200mmx cpu and an uheard of 64 megs of EDO ram running a brand new OS called Win95. so, i wanted to see what changed since then.;)

More the incentive for me to go to med school...

Sweet build! Have fun! I remember the feeling I had when I built my rig (see below), so I can only imagine what this feels like.

*update*

i'm now in the process of assembling the setup, of which i have a question for those whose wisdom i seek.

the 120mm exhaust case fan is about 2.5 inches away from the heatsink. there is room for the heatsink fan on both sides of the ultima90 heatsink.

should i put the fan on the same side as the exhaust fan and pull the air through or put the fan on the other side and push the air through toward the exhaust fan?

i'm asking because this is the first time i'm using a heatsink/fan that flows air perpendicular to the face of the cpu.

otherwise, the build is comong along nicely. i like this 832 stacker case very much. but man this case (along with all the parts installed) is freak'in big and frick'en heavy.

i got five 120mm fans installed and i'm thinking i should lash the case down to the floor before i fire it up for the first time or it might want to go for a cruise down the street. two of the fans are not an inch away from the sli 8800 gtx's sucking air out the side of the case (or should i make them blow into the case?) for a total of three intakes and two exhausts (out the back and out the top)?

why are you crossing your fingers on the hx 620 for your rig?

please clarify what you mean about the intake/exhaust fans. do you mean that your 2 x 8800gtx's are blowing air out of the case, or are you talking about some of your case fans blowing air out of the case just above the 8800's?

sorry for being so vague.

the case has a feature whereby four 120mm fans can be loaded into one of the side access panels. i'm installing two 120mm fans on the lower two fan frames in that panel which will be at the perfect height to either blow on exhaust out directly from the area where the two graphics cards reside.

the two cards are practically siamesed together because i installed the cards in adjacent pci-e16 slots rather than the first and the third slots. i set them up that way because if i had installed one of the graphics cards in the lowest pci-e slot it would have blocked out the usb 2.0 and 1394 connecters. i then decided to install the two fans in the side panel because the graphics cards were now so close together.

and thanks for helping me out bryan.

You wasted your cash BIG TIME on feeding the kids, man. You could"ve just gotten some third world kids instead and they feed themselves from age 5 workin in sweatshops. And paying the mortgage is WAY overrated - just get a box under a bridge and tap into a streetlight for electricity (just make sure that pcp&p psu works on 220V). 2 bad you wasted ur cash l0ser.
