Nope, they lied for a few years about planning to deport them. Then they just said fuck it, and recently started courting them.
I'm actually surprised Romney didnt suck up to them more. He could have had california and easily the election.
55 fucking electoral votes? Not to mention the rest of the country is fairly simple minded, many states tend to follow CA no matter what they do. The whole bandwagon and tag-along thing.

I'm not going to say anything demeaning, but I don't think you follow politics very closely.

Romney was asked during the runup to the election with Obama, not even during the hard-right GOP primary stage, about his policy on immigration, and he stated his position of "make them miserable so they self-deport". That's hardly 'courting' them in any way. Not to mention the major problems they've had with the districting scandals in Texas pissing off droves of Hispanics.

I saw some data earlier that said that Hispanics in this election are breaking 2/3rds for the Democrats. That's massive, and California is only going to become more blue over the years, it's another NY for all effective purposes. I'm not sure why you think any voting group follows California, they are sort of their own world. I can guarantee you nobody in Ohio or Florida or Texas or pretty much anywhere else cares as a voter about who Californians vote for.

GOP : Fix your problems with the Hispanic voters, or you are in a permanent tailspin.

Texas already has millions of Latino voters who vote Republican - so does FL. I always laugh when it is assumed a Latino person will vote for the Democrats. They are consistently swing voters.

Of course, all you hear in the media is that Latinos vote for Democrats. The media is for stupid people, incapable of independent thought. Their game is, if they repeat something long enough, people decide it's true.

New reply as now we have new data.

The most conservative estimates possible put Obama's hispanic advantage at getting 2/3rds of that vote.

The last GOP president to get a majority of the hispanic vote was in 2000 for Bush. Every single election since then has seen declines (Bush fell to 48% in '04), and with the GOP blustering about border/immigration issues to light up their base during the primaries, the falloff has been VERY steep.

Care to revise your statement?

Steeple I have such a hard time living here in California now. Born and raised here, I cannot handle the radical nanny statism and socialism. It is driving me mad.
