About to buy Nokian WRG3

I need new tires for my Subaru. I live in Seattle where it rains a lot, but I go skiing in the winter. I'm 90 minutes away from the snowiest place on earth.

I don't want to mess with switching out tires every winter, and still driving 90% of winter driving on snowless roads.

I know there have been a few discussion of Nokian WRG3s but as long as no one advises otherwise I think I'm going to get them. They're more expensive but last 50k miles (about how much longer I'll have the car). The alternative is a set of summers, a set of winters, and another set of wheels (which in total is almost 2x as expensive).

I just got the wrg2s for my car this year(the wrg3s did not fit) and they are way better then the tires i had before. I had the stock OEM tires and as soon as it snowed i had to drive like a grandma because i had ZERO traction. i would slide every time i put on the brakes or tried to turn no matter how slow i was going. To be honest it was not safe at all but i lived with it for 4 years because i did not want to replace tires that were basically new. I wish i had done it sooner because these tires are great.

I plan on getting another set of them for my wife's car when it comes time.

I had a pair of all season Nokian's on my subaru. Were pretty good tires all around.. Never got stuck in snow and the tread held up well.

Same story here with stock tires. If I replaced them the day I bought the car I would've saved the money by avoiding a minor collision with a guardrail down a very shallow hill. (and I'm from the midwest so I know how to drive in snow)

The tires will only come in handy 6-7 times a year but they're probably worth it. I'm pretty sure I can save money by just going with these over summer + winter... on the other hand I could go really cheap for the summer tires.

I was very interested in these, but went with Ecopias simply due to the fact that it's cheaper and more convenient for me to get the tires done at costco.

That said, this has been a winter where the Nokians would have been handy...

I hope you get a long life out of them!

my 135i (RWD) had some Michilin Pilot Alpin PA3's, those were nice ... but if you use them in summer, you'll probably only get 20k~ out of them.
