If you know any other girls, ask them about her. You can find out her name, if she has a SO, and what group she hangs with.

As a shy person, I have learned that going up to a girl and starting a conversation is what you have to do. Doing this, I have gotten shot down but then I have also started relationships too.

This is a law of women's actions, and there aren't many--if she isn't interested she will tell you about her boyfriend herself. If she mentions nothing within the first 2-3 days of you talking to her, she is either willing to cheat or doesn't have one.
 
ask her about an assignment to break the ice, then just talk to her. i am assuming you are both human beings, and if so, JUST FARKIN TALK TO HER!
