my first hot deal - hadn't seen it posted yet. this baby is pricey ($180) but looks to be a sweet board!

Man I want one ( Have a KG7-RAID now) but $195 shipped 🙁🙁🙁
The SOYO Dragon+ looks to be the hot deal

Yeah i gotta agree that is way too much for an Athlon motherboard, but Im sure it will drop in a couple weeks

7 ide slots isn't hard to imagine

i had 3 cd roms in my computer... a dvd drive, a real burner, and that wussy drive from iomega that was worthless... let all my non dvd roms run from that drive to cut down on wear and tear on the other two.

then there's always a couple hard drives, a zip drive perhaps and we're up to 6...

i could imagine a 3 hard drive setup... 2 in raid, one separate... it'd be awesome having that much space.

Watch SMK. They said they had it in stock last week when I called before and after I placed an order. Turns out they are getting them in when I called 2 days later and might ship within the next 5 days. Beware of SMK/Allstar, they even charged the card without having them in stock.

If you dont have it in your hands and a charge is on your card.. I would talk to your credit card company if I were you just to make sure you dont get screwed over. I wouldnt trust a company that does something like that.

This board looks interesting. $195 shipped is a bit pricey.

For people in the bayarea, might wanna try Beatprice.....they do local pickup $161 or something close....sorry don't remember.

<< someone explain to me why this is even close to a hot deal...

moving on...
>>

yeah, i know, the price isn't very hot, but the board is, & it's just now hitting the market ...

just thought some of my fellow at'ers would like to know its available now.
🙂

Pretty expensive, but I paid $175 shipped for my KT7 Raid when it first came over a year ago. A couple more months and they'll be down around $120-140.

Just another overpriced ABIT board.

Sorry guys, there's nothing there worth $185. I can get new Tyan S2460 boards for a couple bucks more (tax included) from a local distributor.

I'll never understand why people can justify spending upwards of $150 on a single processor mainboard. And this deal is COLD.

I ordered from SMK. I ordered because it was the best price deal I could get last thursday, and I could not wait 😉 I got the MB for 168 and the XP 1800+ for 189 - this combo was the lowest total price I saw then, total 375 or so, shipped FedEx saver.

I talked to someone in CS before I orderd it online, and they specifically told me that they were getting a batch on friday and another on monday, and that mine would ship from those. It did indeed ship on monday. Interestingly, I got it yesterday(wed.) Coast to Coast saver in 2 days rules 🙂 (I think it may have piggybacked onto my newegg order that shipped friday?!?!? they both came at the same time even though the newegg order shipped on the 30th and the SMK order shipped the 3rd...both saver..) I agree that the delay on a tracking number is dissapointing (and a little scary...I got mine *AFTER* it arrived 🙂 )

The prices have dropped a bit already. Now all the sudden there is a place that is cheaper that is within pickup range (20 miles, sunset marketing/qbitpc) who also has a decent processor price..ahh well, so much for patience. I will PM it with Blue if the prices really drop...

So, my 0.02 - SMK did fine by me..

One thing that is hot about this board, is that overclockers have been able to get this boards FSB up to 190MHz+. I know it may not justify a $190~ price tag, but for those that HAVE to have the fastest rig out there, this may be the board that takes the tittle now, and for awhile to come. Me, I'll hold out till it hits $130, or until something faster comes out at $130 or less. After having bought a ECS K7S5A for $60 3months ago, $190~ makes ya want to choke a little.

got bought mine from essesential computers for $165 on tuesday and it showed up wed, talk about great service, i have had good luck with them before too. their english is a bit rough but their bussness policies are right on. their down to $160 on the board now right here. id tell ya what i thought of the board but dont have any ddr ram around untell my newegg order gets here.

This board has all the feature I plan to use.................4 dimm slots will be very handy to upgrade the ram, plus ide raid that supports ATA133

Price is a bit high.............compare to other good boards such as Soyo Dragon+ that I also consider...........from reading the roundup at Tomshardware, Soyo seems to be a better bang for your bucks. Might wait till someone actually do a roundup that includes KR7A

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..............can't decide.
