Seeing all your core temp, I was blown away when I saw mine....

19C for 1st core and 22C for second.... I think I should go for some HEAVY overclocking.

update to the latest BIOS then let us know the temps. Mine was showing 12c load until I went to 15, now I see 51c load (45-47ish when gaming) so I know it's more accurate now.

i am now running abit-ip35e # 4. this MB is a replacement from u-abit. the last two ip35e's had serious problems. one was flakey and unstable + cold start issues. the other was good except for the cold start issue.

the two replacement MB's are stable. but there are still problems. the cold start problem has not been repaired on these boards. they do however start up at about 12c--where the others started up at around 17c. -- you would think that uabit would repair the bad transistor while they had them in their repair shop ??

i have about spent enough $$ sending the uabits back on rma's to have bought another dfi or biostar t-force. and the truth is--these two should go back to uabit as well. so right now my ip35e's are batting 100% RMA--even the RMA's need to be RMAed!

don't know if i'll send the last two back-- i may just put up with the starting problems till i can replace them with DFI's or maybe even asrock-p35s.

hello,

I am considering running this board w/ Vista 64-bit premium and 8GB of memory and was wondering if anyone has identified memory modules that run well on this board and similarly a Intel CPU w/a multiplier that would more closely match the timings and speed of 4 sticks of 2GB memory (I'm assuming that the 2GB memory will run slower than the 1GB modules).

The memory modules that I reviewed at Newegg show this set from Mushkin to be resonably reliable and affordable, if not the fastest modules:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16820146692

As to the CPU, I'm open to any particular model. Currently I have a E2140 that i can do the BSEL mod to but is otherwise NIB.

That memory would be fine, spec'ed at 1.8 is even better. While the reviews look good and they should overclock well, take Newegg reviews with a grain of salt. If they run half as well as the reviews say, it's a good buy. This G.Skill PC-8000 RAM comes highly recommended at the abit forums. Just remember with 4 sticks, you'll need to raise your MCH voltage a couple notches to help it cope with the extra strain.

Take your pick as to CPU. For OC'ing, the E6750 seems to be the sweet spot for the best price-to-performance. Those E8400s are nice, but until that temp thing gets worked out (not just an abit problem), I'd stay away. You could always stick with your E2140 until that time comes and then upgrade.

Anyway...that's my $.02

As I said before, temps show up fine with BIOS 15, mine is idling at 34C right now (e8400 @ 3.7). I am running 8GB of STT DDR-800 and so far they are memtest stable at 1.95 volts.

Got a question:

I remembered when I set my DRAM speed to AUTO, it was set to "6:5" (checked from CPU-Z).
But with manual mode, the slowest is speed on the menu is "1:1"

Is it possible to select "6:5" manually? That'd be great!

I had done a Bios upgrade to get rid of double boot - but had to disconnect PS - now it double boots again - i think have Bios 12 -- is there a way to get rid of that double boot?

Or do I need to update to Bios 14?

also - is Bios 14 recommended one. thanks

That's odd; CPU-z shouldn't have showed that. There is no CPU : DRAM ratio < 1:1 on any P35 chipset that I'm aware of. Definitely not on this board.

v.12 has the double boot. v.14beta05 - v.15 all worked the same for me; well, v.15 was a bit slower than v.14. Really they are very similar, take your pick.

Serpantroyale,
Thinking of getting this mobo and had a couple of questions.
1. Will it accomodate the Thermaltake Big Typhoon cooler?
2. Replacing my Gigabyte mobo because I think the sensor readings for temps is screwed up so I want to ask what average C2D temp is on this mobo(got e4400)
3. Is A-Data ram an issue for this mobo? Newegg review mentions this.
Thanks.

1. Sure it will, have a look here for photos of mine.

2. I have the same CPU. With a lapped CPU and Big Typhoon, at the OC in my sig, I'm getting between 52c and 56c while Folding@Home 24/7 (depending on room temp). Orthos gets it to ~61c.

3. Depends on the RAM itself. Please link to it and we'll have a look.

Unfortunately, Serpent has been banned from AT, FYI.

hokiealumnus,

thanks for the pics, have you heard of any other sets of 2gb modules working well w/this mobo? i dont need max speed, but more focuesd on reliability.

also, could you be more clear about which line I the bios that I would be adjusting to accomodate the 8gb of total memory?

Oh, one more thing, say I got the E6750 cpu, what would be my goal for FSB speed vs memory speed (using the G.Skill kit for example). Would I be going for 1:1 or something different?

With the E6750, I'd recommend the G.Skill RAM that was mentioned before. That CPU has an 8x multiplier, which can put you past an FSB of 400 in a hurry when OC'ing. Since those are rated above what you'll be pushing (you can always increase their speed w/ the CPU : DRAM ratio as well), they'll also be reliable. :)

Thanks again for the help.

Heh...not my review, that's all Serpent. Sorry he's gone, he just didn't play nice enough I suppose.

Anyway, as long as the RAM operates properly (no experience with A-data), those specifications are as good as it gets as far as plug-and-play compatibility goes. 1.8v @ 5-5-5-18, exactly what the board sets at JEDEC defaults.

Can anyone help me put. I lost my IP35-E installation disc and would like an iso copy.

When I used the drivers from the abit website for the intel chipset, my USB hub in the back is not being recognized. Please PM if you can help me out. Thanks.

Try uninstalling all your USB devices, then restart windows & let it re-discover and install them for you. That's worked for several people with this issue.

I also have the dreaded "cold boot" issue (see my original post). Since winter has arrived, it takes up to an hour to boot when my room is cold (<65 degrees). I decided to RMA (see next paragraph).

I just won a case against U-Abit through PayPal. I sent them $157 about (6) weeks ago, they collected my money, and never sent a replacement board. They should cross-ship in about (2) weeks, btw, but I got BUMPkis from them. I started emailing; but they did not reply. I finally tried calling the RMA phone number; but their answering machine is always FULL. I finally decided to just try to get my money back.

I'm just going to keep my rig running 24/7 to avoid turning it off. Of course, there is nothing I can do about power outages, or if I need to make a hardware change; but this board is great otherwise.

I have a question about the fan control pin on the IP35-E motherboard. I can use either SpeedFan or AbitEQ to control (1) fan from 50% to 100%. I prefer SpeedFan, but there is a minor problem. I have a second hard drive in my computer, which greatly helps multi-tasking while I'm using my computer. When I'm not using my computer, I have my hard drives set to sleep after 15 minutes of inactivity. Unfortunetly, SpeedFan keeps reading the temps for my hard drives, which keeps them running. I have removed all hard drive references from SpeedFan, but they still stay on. I then tried AbitEQ and this worked. AbitEQ doesn't read the hard drive sensors, therefore letting them sleep.

My question is about the "Fan EQ" setting for "SYS FAN" in AbitEQ. I want to hook the "SYS FAN" to change speeds according to my CPU Reference Temperature. The problem is that it always defaults back to SYSTEM everytime that I change the dropdown to CPU. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? or if there is a workaround?

I actually prefer SpeedFan, so if there is a workaround for not reading the hard drive sensors, I would also appreciate.

Many Thanks,

Also runing BIOS v15, no more double-boot and it rarely hangs on reboot anymore.
