When I was in italy the japanese would do this at louis vitton to the point where they would pay students and tourists cash to go in the store and buy louis vitton crap. I think they were paying people 500 bucks for every 10k in merchandise they bought.

They would have started stores overseas if they didn't care.

The deal is that they lose all their regular customers because they can't keep items on the racks.

No, that's Hollister (which is an A&F brand I believe?)

Ahh, that's the store I detest then. Don't know that I've ever been in an A&F store.

Donna Lupi said she shops at Abercrombie & Fitch because it is the only store where the clothes fit well for her and her daughter.
Right. That means the mother is so desperate to look young she wears her daughter's clothing.

EDIT

"She said, 'We've had a problem with foreigners and since we cannot discriminate against someone from another country, we decided to put a policy in place that prevents anyone from purchasing more than 20 items,'" Donna Lupi said.
Who cares? They still profit. Or are they losing sales overseas? I wouldn't figure there would be international A&F stores, LOL

Hollister is owned by A&F. And both stores blast muic...but A&F blasts techno, while Hollister blasts rock.

Either way, I like the way their shirts (not t-shirts) and jeans fit, so fvck it.

Don't we all hate it when you go to a store Sunday afternoon to buy an item in the Sunday ad and they've already sold all of their items to resellers? Or even before Sunday thanks to return/rebuy. Not that resellers buy everything, but we all know people do it. From the store's perspective those customers are less valuable than customers who are actually interested in buying stuff from the store for personal use.

I haven't even bought close to 20 items from there ... in my whole lifetime. If I wanted clothes that look like they've been used and washed for 3 years I would go to a thrift store.

That's ridiculous. You're in business to sell things. So sell them.

Definitely seconded! Kohls/Dillards are the best places to buy clothes when they have big end-of-season sales or something.

That sounds like more of a problem with the store than the resellers. Maintain a high enough stock and you won't care.. and you make more money.

I have a feeling that this story is fake or extremely embellished.

A&F is constantly under fire because they're known as a "white/yuppie" store, and their patrons are people who generally like to look white . And as we all know, while celebrating your African/Asian/Middle Eastern/Hispanic heritage is empowering, celebrating your European heritage is downright racist.

Proud to be Black = liberating, militant, empowering

Proud to be White = racist

Political correctness for the loss.

Or the new thing apparently, jeans that are "pre ripped" who came up with that. pretty much no need for qa anymore. defects? market them as trendy.

Or set a per item limit? That won't affect real customers as much as this dumb policy.

Why do people pay to advertise for the company? If I pay a bunch for a shirt, I don't expect to be walking around with the company name and logo for free. Pay me to advertise for you. Seriously, when I see people paying $70 for a sweatshirt only to give away free advertising I think they are retarded.

I've never stepped foot in an A&F. Same things goes for any other 'trendy' store. Why should I throw money away on crappy clothes?

What exactly is looking white? And how is dressing in A&F clothing celebrating white heritage?

You can't really dress any color, but you can dress in a style which is widely accepted as being associated with it.

I never shopped there, but I'm so damn sick of hearing people whining about A&F and how it wronged them.

I would bet $100 that Ms. Lupi will be back in A&F before the year is out, her getting a "smack on the face" notwithstanding.

She loves the trendy.
