ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

When it comes to any reality program,. I jsut think about how much money they are making off these shows. Several stars, but it's not liek the cast of Friends geting paid rediculous amounts.

It's sad in alot of ways...product placement, etc. (FSU for example in this episode)

Atleast this show is doing something for someone who's in need. What do "reality" shows like Survivor and Fear Factor do for anyone.

The idea is good and I sometimes see one or two things that are useful on those types of shows. But in their zeal to do it fast on a particular budget, they often do some very crappy work. Especially when that guy makes things out of wood -- everytime I have seen that it is :Q

The episode with the 2 deaf parents who had a normal son and autistic/blind son had me damn near crying.

how do they lose their dignity? usually the families are in desperate need for help. and the show helps by building a new house. this is the only reality tv that i would watch.

When the show first aired I used to ONLY because I had the feeling of what it would be like to see the faces on my wife and kids. Since becoming disabled my dreams of ever having what they give some of these famlies is all gone for me. We will most likely never see new appliances, new cars, a new house, or even a better trailer then what we are in now. So it hit hard seeing how happy they all were and then it hit me that I will never see that from any of my family members and made me feel even worse about my/our situation. Great I am tearing up now reminding myself about it.

Can I get some cheese with my :wine: please to make me feel better

My wife and a friend and myself watched the blind guy one out of sheer curiousity (wife and friend are both blind). It was alright but we were kinda hoping to see more in the way of cool adaptive technology. Some of it was kinda silly. Blind people can't turn lights off and on? I don't know what that was about.

Was a really nice thing they did for him and his family.

don't get me wrong, i have genuine sympathy for people who've had an unexpected loss essentially destroy their ability to have anything. but some of the people they put on there brought it on themselves. 'we have this tiny little house. we moved into when we got married. but now we have 10 kids and we love them all but they don't all fit into this 1000 sq feet.' well why the hell did you have 10 kids when you knew you couldn't fit them into the house?
