ABC Pulls a Dan Rather: Page was 18, not 16

The identity of the page was revealed (accidentally) by ABC, whoops.

Drudge has learned the page was over the age of 18 when the lewd IMs were written. I still think this stinks, the guy needed to go, but tell me, how is this worse than Bill Clinton, who actually had sex with a person serving under him?

Obvious its much worse because he sent simular messages to MANY pages, many while they were underage. He also apparently plied pages with alchohol in order to make them more receptive to his advances. According to other testimony by former pages, while they were still underage he sent sexually graphic messages to them, and Foley continued even once his moves were rejected.

It's all about the coverup.

A network source explains, messages with the young man and disgraced former Congressman Foley took place before and after the 18th birthday.

In related news, a douchebag blogger has published this kid's name and pictures - not surprisingly, our friend ProfJohn has linked to it . . .

not intended. seriously, the clinton argument was it was about 2 consentual adults, here was apparently have 2 consentual gay adults having phone sex. as a Christian, I obviously have issues with homosexual behavior, but no more so that adultery. but that's not the big issue. The big issue was taking advantage of another person who is your workplace suboordinate (sexual harrasment). Clinton did it (whether consentual or not) and Foley e-did it.

Woops. Doesn't matter. Foley contacted many pages and might have even had sex with one. Like with Clinton, this will/(has?) become more about the coverup than the actual indiscretion(s).

Although this situation is much, much, much worse and harmful than what Clinton ever did.

Don, the guy is 23, we are no longer protecting the 16 year old from La, but are instead talking about an adult who knowingly engaged in sexual chats with Foley.

Big question, if this guy is the source of the sexual IMs then he has no right to remain silent, and if he is not the source then who stole the IMs from either him or Foley?

Name me one reason why this guy should not have his name mentioned? Or are you upset that the story about Foley and IM sex with a 16 year old was wrong?

Wow, you actually started a new thread in which to compare Foley and Clinton?! Well played, sir. <golf clap>

Who's the douchbag? The blogger who posts it? Or the GOP 'spinmeister' who links to it?

How the hell is this "much much much worse" than the President of the United States undermining the justice system by lying under oath and telling someone else to lie under oath???!!!!

You were doing ok till that statement, but so far Foley has not broke any laws!
It is good that he is gone, but don't tell me what he did was worse until someone accusing him of breaking a law.

You suck at math, and worse at ethics.

He's 21, not 23. He was either 17 or 18 at the time of the IM exchange. What does his being the "source" have to do with his "right to remain silent"? I see nothing wrong with his disclosing these IMs to the authorities, particularly if he was under 18 at the time the exchanges occurred. I don't see how this means he should be exposed to public scrutiny - he may in fact be the victim of a crime. In any event, I fail to see how it behooves your party to make a public spectacle of this kid - I see it as mean-spirited, completely unnecessary, and essentially the same kinds of intimidation tactics that increasingly personify Republican leadership.

OK, so I guess it's OK to hold up a congressional vote for some internet sex as long as your partner's 18.

What about all the others?

yes, definitely an unhealthy interest in minors (as many of the other congressmen probably have had with pages over the years, hetero or homo). but you're making the jump that he had sex with one (as a minor). no evidence of that as of yet (unlike the democrat stubbs), no one has come forward about it either. though when women came forward about clinton (paula jones), they were immediately smeared like philly on a bagel (trailer trash, gold diggers). i'm sure the media will embrace these anonymous pages with open arms though. again, not defending foley, but at least he resigned. democrats would be circling the wagon unashemed. i'm also angry with abc, they need to clear this up.

my point: if the most vulgar, sexually charged ims were to an adult this makes abc look bad. intentionally misrepresenting the story.

Plus, a blogger? I mean come on, I try not to question sources, but bloggers? I draw the line at considering them credible sources. As should the rest of you.

Boy, you're awfully proud of publically embarrassing an enthusiastic young Republican. Who woulda thunk it?

Don't you get it, DonVito - it's okay that Foley has been grooming the young for his sexual playpen, while having a blind eye turned to it by the party of family values...

get wit the program, duh!

I think the Clinton comparisons aren't that good - when you've got Mel Reynolds (D - IL) (currently the only convicted child molester congressmen that I'm aware of) to compare to. Of course, we could also talk about how Clinton commuted Melester Reynolds bank fraud sentence 😀

I also think it would be fascinating if we could invent a bizarro space/time machine, flip the situation and see how it would be handled by the D's 😀

Exactly the same way that it is being handled now, you would just need to switch all the D's and R's after peoples names.

yeah, i was gonna mention mel. and the pardon. you can bet bush won't pardon foley IF he is guilty of anything illegal (which again, we aren't sure). inappropriate? yes. immoral? yes. agains the values of the republican party? definitely (which may explain why fox put a (D) next to his name the other day) illegal? not yet. but for democrats its always been about the seriousness of the charges, not the actual factual evidence.

you deserve to be banned for horrible reading comprehension

>>>>>>>>>>>>before and after the 18th birthday<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Foley has been harassing pages since 1985. It was widely known that if Foley invited you (a young page) on a drive in his BMW, it was wise to take a rain check.

BTW, Bin Laden has checked himself in the Betty Ford Center. Booze made him plan 9/11 he claims.

you right-wingers are so sad, your reaction to the Foley scandal is both predictable and pathetic. your no different than any of the other right-wing sheep out there, so don't think you are. your first reaction is to blame Democrats and try and make comparisons between Democrats involved in scandals.

the right-wing simply refuses to take any responsibility for their actions. the party of so called moral authority is morally bankrupt.

I just want to be clear on this issue. If I become a congressman then I can hit on all that hot young page ass that comes my way?
