Now, if you were a true Ferengi, you'd have a deal with the Exxon to ship barrels of that crap directly to you.

But no, I guess you're just a poser, eh?

Supply vs. Demand, plus the traders are bidding up the cost of oil based on the possibility that supply could be interrupted. AND...if you ant to be upset, be mad at the Middle East--OPEC, especially. THey are the ones that refuse to boost production and are gouging.

Iran's saber-rattling is not helping.

do you need to drive the suburban everyday? if not, you might want to look into getting a more gas efficient car as your daily driver. Gas prices are NOT going to go down....ever. Greed has no limits

Production isn't the issue currently, speculation is. The world crude inventories are at 8 year highs yet prices are at all time highs (not adjusted for inflation). All based on the fear economy/speculation created by meddling ME policies.

As for refined products, there might be a legitimate supply/demand issue as refining capacity seems to be off a bit. Maybe the high prices will bring demand back in line so that supply of refined products can rise.

Suburban? Cool? LOL

Meh, bitch all you want. Nobody pointed a gun to your head and made you purchase a vehicle that gets 8 miles to the gallon.

what I dont understand is why we havent built any new, more efficient refineries? is corporate greed the only reason? I dont buy the environmental reasons. There are plenty of barren lands in the US where noone lives. Why cant we build one or two there?

The purpose of the suburban is to flip out and kill people.

...wait, that's not right. Sorry, must have gotten my wires crossed.

"more efficient?" A modern oil refinery is darn near 100% efficient at converting petroleum to useful petrochemicals...and with reforming and cracking, you can even customize your mix to produce more gasoline, more jet fuel, more diesel...

Many refineries around the Great Lakes and the East Coast are currently having shutdowns. Most of the shutdowns last 30-40 days. I am not sure if this has anything to do with supply as these are planned shutdowns.

Oil out is happening this weekend at one in South Jersey...I am hoping to start on Monday.

Because it is more cost-effective to upgrade and expand existing oil refineries than it is to deal with the regulatory, governmental, and environmental hassles that goes along with building a brand new plant on unused land no matter how barren it is.

Just look at where they want to drill in ANWR...it is about as barren as it gets and the enviro-nutties still have politicians scared of drilling there.
