Maybe it's not an unfounded fear.
Given the claims by the oil industry about how "it won't be that bad", being cautious about drilling in an area that is about as remote as one can be, I wouldn't call them "enviro-nutties". But I would call the oil industries constant thirst for easy oil unrelentless.
But look at the 1-year chart, and find January. I shouldn't have set my stop-limit order so high.

OP, you REALLY want to know why gas/diesel/oil prices are so high? Look at your pic. You just gave them about $50 in profit! Vehicles like yours are the reason the prices are so high - you feel you need to spend $100 a week to feel cool instead of actually being cool.
If someone bought something thinking they had to have it to be 'cool' with a recurring commodity purchase that had to be purchased from you, and you could raise the profit margin of that commodity at will, you'd be doing the same thing. It's just good business sense. OBEY THE MACHINE!!!

By that same logic, is how I feel about any car, it's just transportation to get you from point a to point b. I mean all you need is a little car that can get you 50+ MPG, no need for any of these other cars that get less than 40MPG. If you have a car that gets less than 40, you are just doing it to be cool right?
