A world without gender.

would everyone reproduce asexually?

I'm assuming the OP is from the basis that gender is a social construct, and the social differences between male/female are taught rather than originating from a real biological need.

If he means that everyone is of the same sex, then I don't know...

I guess it would be one less type of variety which, in my mind, is bad.

Well personally I find there is a distinct difference in the way females and males act in a large amount of situations. So I still don't understand this thread.

The point is whether that difference is instinctive or taught by society.

For example, feral children who grew up outside of society to not exhibit the common traits of males or females, regardless of their sex.

It would be boring and uncompetitive. One philosopher, I think it was Freud, said that the world revolves around the notion of us getting laid by women, he said "it all boils down to sex". You see, almost everything we do in this planet is correlated with us trying to find, be liked and acquiere a female, almost everything.

No,I'm not assuming that.

I'm just keeping aside the science of it(let's say, we could reproduce & genetic variation would occur even without the existence of gender).

Basically I'm just thinking about a world without all the problems, the existence of two genders(and sexual attraction) brings in.

(Well,if all you're bothered about is orgasms,I guess the 'feeling' of an orgasm could be replicated artificially. It's just a feeling.Something your brain perceives.)

Oh, I thought you were trying to go for something relevant to the world...

If we could product offspring on our own without the aid of others, I suppose we would put more strength into the child-parent bond, as there is no coupling.

Please use spaces. It takes very little effort or time, yet increases the readability of your sentences by so much.

EDIT: Without all the problems, you also lack all the benefits, such as motivation to do something.

that's the point of sexual reproduction.

females and males behave differently due to biology. Reproduction brings in a slew of conflict due to the genetic imperative females have for the best offspring.

the only answer for your position is asexual and therefore no male or female; just human.

Sexual reproduction has its advantages such as repairing genetic defects and promoting genetic diversity within the species.

While many aspects of gender are taught, what is wrong with that? Many behaviors related to gender/sex are taught in other species and there is nothing non-natural about that. It helps ensure their survival. Some differences manifest themselves without being taught and do lead to differences in parent/child interaction. The ability to produce milk is a major one.

Besides, if we were completely asexual, we'd have to have a different reproductive system. Who here (male or female) would prefer to have a multipurpose cloaca?

If a multipurpose cloaca is what we had, then,as you know, that is what would look 'good' or 'normal' to us.

I am guessing you are a college student and a liberal university. Am I right? You don't think women fight amongst themselves or men amongst themselves? What would make you think asexual humans would not fight amongst themselves?
