Yes it's the white replacement theory promoted by Tucker Carlson and Fox News. I want to make this clear so my thread doesn't get edited.

First the setup. Tucker Carlsons white replacement theory

Now the incident with the connection back to the theory promoted by Carlson and Fox News.

A manifesto allegedly written and posted by the suspect in a mass shooting at a Buffalo supermarket that killed 10 people laid out specific plans to attack Black people and repeatedly cited the “great replacement" theory, the false idea that a cabal is attempting to replace white Americans with nonwhite people through immigration, interracial marriage and, eventually, violence.
The manifesto, which appears to have been written by 18-year-old Payton Gendron, included a shared birth date and biographical details with the suspect in custody. The PDF was originally posted to Google Docs at 8:55 p.m. Thursday, two days before the shooting, according to file data accessed by NBC News.

The manifesto includes dozens of pages antisemitic and racist memes, repeatedly citing the racist “great replacement” conspiracy theory frequently pushed by white supremacists, which falsely claims white people are being “replaced” in America as part of an elaborate Jewish conspiracy theory. Other memes use tropes and discredited data to denigrate the intelligence of nonwhite people.

The Buffalo shooting suspect apparently posted a manifesto citing 'Great Replacement' theory (yahoo.com)

10 people killed including a retired police officer working as a security guard trying to stop the domestic white nationalist terrorist.

My own Tucker watching father believes this stuff and white Americans used "replacement theory" to argue for reduced immigration from the country his family came from. Doesn't want to hear me when I call it out. Fox News makes older people terrified that the world will change one iota from a place that probably never existed in the first place and willing to latch on to increasingly extremest views. Just like when he tired to tell me there was no unrest in the 60s like during when the Floyd stuff was going on lol. Just totally divorced from reality.

Just an interesting factoid for people who still deny Republicans have mainstreamed racism and anti-Semitism, the terrorist Payton S. Gendron was 15 years old when Trump called the white nationalists in Charlottesville

"very fine people"

I suspect he added that to his list of justifications for shooting up a crowd of black people.

Reporting an incident which leads to a Copy Cat incident used to be a criticism of News Media. What if a News Media Personality actually Instigates an Incident?

Criticism isn't enough.

It's simple economics; If Hitler increases the ratings of the network, and therefore the revenue, is it not incumbent upon the leadership of said network to promote Hitler and all those of his ilk?

Oh wait, Carlson...Tucker Carlson, that's his name. Sorry, I sometimes get the two mixed up, what with their nearly identical ideologies and all.

Sought Revenge for Waukesha Parade Victims?
The rifle used in the hate-fueled massacre at a Buffalo supermarket on Saturday appears to have been marked up with the name of a woman killed in a deadly car attack on a Wisconsin parade, an incident that has been dubiously seized on by far-right extremists as an example of anti-white crime.
...
It appears that one line was the misspelled name of Virginia Sorenson, a member of the “Dancing Grannies” parade troupe who was killed in the city of Waukesha, Wisconsin’s annual Christmas parade. Though less clear, the line below may be the name of another parade victim.

Well, between that and the manifesto crap... terrorism fits.
Lone wolf, or part of something worse?

Suppose that depends on how loose you consider the connective threads. From Fox New's race baiting, to anyone else who feels the same, to the actions of this terrorist.

Far as white replacement goes, that's one hell of a loaded topic. Of course people will feel unease at watching themselves become a minority. To lose certain protections and to one day become the victim of a machine, like so many others before them. They know what awaits them. How others will treat them as they have treated others. And it isn't pretty.

Personally, I favor mixing our genetics. It is what it is in the end. Population growth is a serious problem, but for a vastly different reason. Culture... oh boy. The more I learn of ours, the less impressed I am. Though other parts of the world, with a penchant for tyranny are also not impressive. Don't want people here who, for example, support Putin. Or any other form of oppression. Problem is, a bunch of good old white boy natives seem to be right up that alley anyway.

Ours is a future that needs to be shaped by the ideas we hold. And we need to clarify those ideas that are not acceptable. To hold public debate and pursue a more perfect union that does a better than we currently do. Than we ever did before. Let the past fade, and let us embrace whatever good we can make.

As for how we get there....
The race baiting, mongering? at Fox News needs to be addressed directly. And if they can't handle that - then things are going to get a heck of a lot worse before they can get better.

Looks like the Republicans have a new hero. Kyle Rittenhouse has to take a back seat for now. I guess the Republicans will all be fighting over who gets to hire him.

He called himself a leftist authoritarian populist in his own manifesto. Now sure how that reconciles with the views he held but the rightwing ecosystem will run with it.

If my mother had balls she'd be my father. They will do everything possible to disassociate their own kind when they become unpopular. Remember how many on the right praised Putin until war footage turned public opinion.

As horrifying as this is, Fox and the right wing will twist this tragedy around to justify as why Donald Trump is so important and so needed as the only one who can save America. Its amazing how the villains can instigate tragedy and then turn it around and toss it right back in the face of the victims. People like Tucker, like Fox News, they do this all the time. And like with all the other times, they will again get away with it this time too.

He wrote that intentionally to give his fellow cultists an out. Remember that mass shooter in New Zealand who shot all those Muslims? He wrote something similar in his manifesto. It was all far right fascist rantings but he throws in one word like "socialist" somewhere in it, and all the nutballs are like "see, see, he's a lefty." And guess what, this very shooter probably read that very manifesto a couple years ago, and was probably one of the nutballs who said "see, see."

Guess what, I think all abortion should be banned even in the case of rape, women should know their place, climate change is a hoax, and Hilary Clinton eats babies for breakfast. But trust me, I'm a liberal democrat.

If it looks like a duck, it doesn't matter what the damn duck calls itself.

Started hearing about the contents of his "manifesto". They were blathering on about it on the radio earlier. I have really mixed feelings about this, because on the one hand I am vaguely half-interested, to know which particular crazy political ingredients went into this poison (sounds like the usual right-wing stuff, The Great Replacement, "The Jews" are behind it all, etc)

But on the other hand I resent the way that people who kill innocents get all this attention paid to their crazy agendas, so I simultaneously don't want to know what he had to say.

I mean, I could write a 'manifesto' - there are a lot of things I'm miffed about, including particular groups of people I could rant about, and I have plenty of opinions (some of them quite possibly slightly mad) - but nobody would pay any attention because I'm not inclined to kill anyone.

People kill themselves every day, because they are overwhelmed with problems, and the wider world moves on and doesn't care. Only those who kill innocents get all this fuss made about what their grievances were/are. Seems like that sends a really damaging message.

Being a crazy isn't much fun if no one notices. That's why they shout at clouds and jerk off on the bus. That's not enough for a few crazy's so they step up their game with a whole shit load of hate. That's when things get really ugly.

Are you saying this guy was so mentally ill that caused him to seek out black people to kill, vs just a racist terrorist?

Fox is really playing up the mental health side as they actually had the nerve to claim the ‘ White Replacement Theory’ is only discussed by far-right wingers, yet fail to mention their very own far-righty Tucker pushes it.

Weird that the guy apparently had both Khan and, of all people, Erdogan (a fellow fascist, as far as I can tell), on his list of 'enemies'.

I don't think he had a snowflake in hell's chance of actually getting to either of them. Regardless of their rantings, these attention-seekers always go for the easy-targets.

It's strange how the far-right hate Khan as they do. Seems it's purely down to him being a Muslim in a position of power - certainly has nothing to do with his actual politics or actions. Seems that that alone is enough to enrage the Trumpist right.

I'm not keen on him myself, precisely because he's _not_ any sort of radical - Muslim or otherwise. He's really rather conservative and cautious - his main characteristic seems to be a 'safety-first' reluctance to take on any vested interests.

Ironic that Johnson achieved more as mayor than Khan has (some of it good, some bad...he wasted a lot of money on stupid stunts, but he did make some efforts to reduce car-dependency).

Presumably because his public-school over-confidence and sense-of-entitlement made him feel able to risk offending the likes of the LTTV and motorists in general, whereas Khan, being from a far-less-privileged background, seems to be hobbled by extreme caution.

That an old tactic whenever the right wing commit heinous acts, they chalk it up to mental illness. However their take on people of color is they are inherently criminal.

Does anyone remember the chants in Charlottesville?

"Jews will not replace us"....."you will not replace us"

That's pretty good organization from a bunch of "mentally ill" people

People need to stop using the phrase "lone wolf" to describe this event. This guy is not some anti-government shut-in who lived off-grid in rural Montana. This was an adult who was part of normal society and yet he still actively engaged with multiple online communities that held openly racist and extremist viewpoints. He is not a "lone wolf." He is part of a large and growing community of racists and genocide provocateurs. That's why this is so frightening.

To be fair, those two are not mutually exclusive. But of course, they are going to use the lesser evil term to describe him because... racism doesn't exist, right?
