Don't confuse me. All I know is that when the president is black and progressive, it's time for me to suddenly start caring about paying taxes.

Wow you figured it out! No one cared when George H. W. Bush violated his pledge "read my lips, no new taxes!". The again if you think all the Tea Party folks care about is taxes or that it is even their main issue then you really have been restricting yourself to the DNC talking points.

What does "TEA" stand for?

The left favor free speech so long as it is restricted to them and the ideas they support. In that case it is "the highest form of patriotism". In all other cases it is something to be restricted, slandered, ridiculed, and demonized at all costs.

Yet here you are spouting off. LOL, apparently you must be a leftist.

I get a real kick out of the teabagger's imaginary repression of free speech in the USA. Just because others ridicule them or don't accept their premises, they feel their speech is being repressed.

You have the freedom of speech, the rest of us are not required to listen to you. Nor are we required to adhere to your beliefs. Get over it.

Perhaps we should create some "free speech zones" for them?? ;)

What does "TEA" stand for?

When used in conjunction with party it refers to an event in Boston on December 16, 1773 or in modern usage loosely organized groups of citizens concerned about deficits and the inevitable taxes that will be required to reduce them as well as the increasing expansion of the Federal Government into private business and citizens affairs. T.E.A. on the otherhand is an acronym formed by phrase Taxed Enough Already. While protesters have carried signs with this on them it is not where the Tea Party movements name originated. Any other questions?

Just one.

If the name stands for "Taxed Enough Already", and also refers to the revolutionary anti-tax event (the dumping of the taxed tea into the Boston harbor), shouldn't the group either be primarily concerned with taxes or change their name? Are they fucking stupid?

Edit: Sorry, that was two questions.

1. The Boston Tea Party was about deeper issues than the tax on tea.
2. I assume you think they are, I think not. No doubt we disagree.

This video makes a statement I've been previously unable to articulate.

I'm surprised by the left who appear to dislike the protesters in the tea party movement for their method, and for individuals among them who say or do stupid things.

I make the following admission: This is shot like a documentary, which means it's edited to point towards a desired conclusion. All the same, I posted this to point out the following: that protesters of the Obama administration are AT LEAST no crazier than the protesters of the Bush administration.

This is all politics. To its core.

The left favor free speech so long as it is restricted to them and the ideas they support. In that case it is "the highest form of patriotism". In all other cases it is something to be restricted, slandered, ridiculed, and demonized at all costs.

You guys done creating strawmen? Nobody gives 2 shits about 1 eyed racoon hunter hillbillies running around thinking obama is a muslim. We dont give a fuck. Never have never will. Let a bunch of salty old crackers march on dc. Who the fuck cares? I'm more worried about the traffic on the 405.

meh the worst i've met are fundamentalist christian righties... and they're convinced the antichrist is coming

I have friends on both extremes. Although they lobbied hard, the fundies on the extreme right accepted the fact that I am an atheist and no longer bother me about religion. They will even listen to my beliefs and accept me for who I am.
The left wing libs, however, continue to attack me for driving a Jeep (even though they know I also own a Prius) and constantly ridicule my political beliefs, and my beliefs on MMGW. The fact that I do more to help our environment than any of them, makes no difference.

Generally, we get along really well as long as we keep politics & religion out of the picture, but IN MY EXPERIENCE, out of the two, libs are much less accepting of my beliefs than the fundies.

This reminds me, when I got married, I was totally oblivious to all the cultural/religious conflicts that plague us. At our reception, we had several tables with Jews, Muslims, Christians, Atheists, Dems & Reps, all sitting together. Now that I think back on it, I'm glad we did that. Amazingly enough, they all seemed to get along...

Why yes it was. Am I trying to stifle you Edith?? Am I? Of course not, but you seem to think so. It is your twisted logic that is ironic. :p

Please carry on, we can all use some more amusement.

What is ironic here is that the GOP and those on the Right criticized and demonized those protesters in the same manner as those on the Left have done to today's protesters. Of course, they didn't call them racists, they called them anti-American and unpatriotic. So, the hypocrites are calling out the hypocrites. Same shit, different day.

So far you are the only person in this thread who makes any sense. I can tell because everyone else is ignoring you.

That image wasn't doctored.
And I didn't know it took spelling only to know what government is doing wrong.

Sometimes literacy is half the battle.

"my computer gave some kind of error! what's wrong with it?"
"what does the error say?"
"I don't know!"

I guess righties don't like free speech, either:

University of Wyo. cancels William Ayers speech

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The University of Wyoming has canceled a speech by former 1960s radical William Ayers after it raised hundreds of objections from citizens and politicians over the man who became an issue in the 2008 presidential campaign.
.
.
.
UW spokesman Jim Kearns said Tuesday the college had received about 430 e-mails and phone calls since last Friday, with the overwhelming majority against Ayers' visit. Several GOP gubernatorial candidates also voiced their opposition.

No mention of Democrat candidates voicing opposition.

I have a feeling that if you could determine the politics of those 430 that sent those emails and phone calls, you'd find them to also be overwhelmingly Republican.

Why would they? The loony left agrees with him.

They expressed their opinions, you don't like it? Did they cancel his speech? Are you blaming the universities decision to cancel the domestic terrorist's speech on people voicing their opinions? How come you hate America so much?
