John Sterling is on WFAN saying that it's a done deal, Arod signed with the Yankees for 10 years/$275 million.

I say he's worth about half that, if even that. :Q

Just curious...what do you base that on?

The man drove in 156RBIs last year and hit 53 homers. Not to mention the fact that he singlehandedly carried the team through April.

Oh wait, you must be basing that on the fact that you're a Boston fan.

He still sucks in the postseason, he's getting old, and the yankees should be buying more pitchers.

He actually played quite well in the postseason this year. He's 32 and has been healthy his entire career, plus he has the DH to fall back on. Finally, there are no pitchers out there to buy. One could make the argument that this deal opens the door for a Santana trade, as the prospects who would have been traded for a third baseman can be reallocated.

No pitches for sale?! You mentioned Johan, I'd say that is one nice sale item! Add to the list E. Bedard. If the Yanks get both of those guys, I'll be a very happy Yankee fan.

Santana is not a free agent this year. They could TRADE for him as rpbri2886 said, but it doesn't look like the Twins are dealing him right now. They have a new stadium opening and they need to have some players.

I don't think Santana or Bedard are realistic options. However, a deal for the D Train from Florida could possibly happen.

D-Train... *puke*

I think the book is out on that guy at this point...

He's only been pitching for 4-5 years. And he had an off year this year. He's stilla hell of a pitcher and would come alot cheaper than either of the aforementioned.

1.4+ whip the last two years, in the NL and in a pitchers park.

No thanks, I wouldn't trade anything of real value for him.

10 years, 275 million dollars

my favorite part:
"There are a few cynics who say, 'Well, he really couldn't get this there,' " Steinbrenner said. "Trust me, he would have gotten probably more. He is making a sacrifice to be a Yankee, there's no question. ... He showed what was really in his heart and what he really wanted."

that's one helluva sacrifice, $275M. poor bastard.

F*ck A-Rod.

As a Yankees fan, I don't want him back despite the news that a 10 year deal for $275 million is in place. Why?

1.) It was dick to announce the opt out right after the World Series. It just ain't right no matter how much I do not like the Red Sox.
2.) Sure Boras did make the announcement but cmon A-Rod hired Boras how many years ago, he should be calling the shots.
3.) Even if it was a bluff it was a bad one. Who is more committed to winning than the Yankees? Who can offer him more money? Maybe the Red Sox, Angels, Dodgers, or Giants?
4.) And now he really realizes what he really wants? Where the hell were you when Boras was speaking out of line? Doing jack or maybe you were on the couch with a therapy session with your wife?
5.) As history as shown, getting a big bat hasn't worked for the Yankees. Why keep repeating history?
6.) Sure he can be an MVP in the regular season but we need clutch hitting. Everyone couldn't hit this post season for the Yankees. The pitching was horrible.

I have always preferred Shawn Green to Alex Rodriguez. So A-Rod turns down the best deal he can get and thinks he can get more elsewhere. OOOPS, no one else is as easy with money as the Yankees in the MLB. The only other team that would hire someone like him is the Toronto Maple Leafs. And that is not a baseball team.
