the total charge including taxes was $30.12. I wrote down the total for $35 and left the tip blank. the charge is $35.12 on my cc statement.

what should I do?
1. let it go?
2. call up the restuarant and tell them to correct it?
3. charge back?

I don't really like #1 just for being overcharged no matter how much is in question.
#2 will waste my minutes
I am thinking about #3 and see how citi will handle it.

negative. it is 12 cents. sometimes, I'd figure out the tips. most of the time, I wrote down the total and let them deduct the tip from there. not to mento the service was really slow....

You're contemplating charging back over 12 cents? You give a whole new meaning to the word cheap bud.

I *highly* doubt he's doing it to get 12 cents back, but would rather know why this happened. What if it turns out that the waiter/waitress is doing this to everyone?

I would normally round up the total to dollar, so I will know if something isn't right when I check my statement. of course, this happens...

Was the payment made with a debit card or a credit card? I know that sometimes they authorise more with a debit card, but finally end up charging you the exact amount.

You bought a meal for $35?? You're damn right the restaurant overcharged you, and that has nothing to do with your CC.

it's 12 cents dude. let it go. a much more effective response would be to give the resturant a bad review somewhere. posting the prob on ATOT won't resolve anything.

Call all the local TV stations and report that there' a restaurant scamming people out of thousands of dollars. Sure it's only 12 cents to you but that adds up. Didn't you ever see Superman 3?

Anyway to the OP: Next time you go there, just tip 12c less than you normally would have.

Alert the restaurant to what happened and then ignore it.
