Cubeless, I'll let him know. He reads the posts alost daily when his schedule allows. Unfortunately, he is usually blocked from posting directly so he sends me updates and I post them for him.

just put 10+ years worth of star wars series paperback books in the mail (29lbs!!!).. it was like closing the door on part of my life...

Wow, two days in a row I have managed to log onto the forums. Better get this posted before I am kicked off. Normally it takes 7 to 10 days for a flat rate box to arrive to our unit. Many different factors could delay it, the weather being the main reason why anything would be held up. I will have to say, the postal system is a pain but they have done remarkable concerning the conditions and location. I will let you know once we receive the box, and thank you for supporting the cause.

Simper Fi.....

I want to apologize in advance because I have a nagging suspicion that some of the items I sent may not arrive in usable condition due to the fact I didn't package the items well enough. I followed the guidelines listed above but found some additional tips on another site (after the fact; par for the the course on my end <--bad habit  ) with regards to packaging food & odoriferous personal care products together which did not occur to me at the time of packing the boxes(I packaged with some thought of leaks but not the possibility of cross-contamination of the food items due to the ability of the deodorizing smell of other items to permeate the entire contents of the box :( ).

I also sent them by parcel post which will probably increase the chances of some things arriving in unusable condition  .

Thanks for helping out. I will let you know once the box arrives and if the contents made it or not. You could be in for a surprise, I have received several boxes that looked like they were rolled through a mine field and still the contents were fine. I am sure that some of the items will make it. As for sending it parcel post, thats fine as well, all of our mail goes to a collection point such as San Fran, then is flown out and into country. So parcel post or flat rate it's about the same. Once more Thank you for helping out and supporting the service members.

Simper Fi......

Grunt03 sends.

I just started reading this post and I am about to unload lots of cd's and dvd's . Also a couple of 360 games and protein bars which i was asked for the last time I made up a care package. Instead of selling this stuff on Craigslist I think this is a great alternative.

Thanks everyone, haven't seen anything yet but we will keep looking. Please remember to put AnAndTech someplace on the box so I can list who sends boxes in the post.

sweet. i have tons of my magazines that i was going to throw away (maxim, fhm, etc) but ill mail them out...its gonna cost lots of $$ to mail em!

Flat rate? Or is that only domestic? I think it's only domestic...

Overseas military bases are considered domestic.

Because once the USPS delievers the package to the base/depot, the military uses their equipment and manpower to deliver the item.

u r certainly most welcome, seems a small thing for what y'all are doing...

fyi those that are sending printed material... i sent books "media rate" and it was 2 weeks total transit... that doesn't seem too bad for the price savings, it was about 1/4 of the parcel post rate...

How would I send some stuff from Turkey? There's a U.S. military base near where my parents live (Adana, Turkey - Incirlik Air Base). I can send some DVDs and books in English.

Should be quite simple infact, we order supply goods from Turkey. Just mail what you have to the address posted. And thanks for thinking of the service members.

What's the policy on Playboy magazines?

Can I send those? I've got a pile of those and a bunch of Car and Driver magazines that I need to unload.

Got 3 more boxes sent today. This time via the large PM flat-rate boxes, so they should arrive a little faster this time. :)

Send lotion and tissue with them? :D

I'll be at the post office tomorrow morning to drop off an item sold on eBay... I'll pick up a few flat rate boxes and send some stuff away. I have stacks of books and a couple dozen CD's just taking up space.

I didn't see batteries listed... would those be needed and ok to send?

We would love to have them but it is aginst the regulations in place here and would become to much trouble. Thanks for the offer though...

Any type of porn is restricted in country. I cannot say that I agree with the policy but it is what it is and I have to inforce it. It would be to much trouble and it's just not worth it. I thank you for the offer though.....

I'd donate them in a heartbeat if they'd set up a plan for it.

Same with me BoomerD. I have 100's that expire every month that simply never get put to use and just fall off. What a waste when it could go to the troops.

Incredible thread. We just moved, and have uncovered tons of stuff we've decided we don't need anymore. I'll see what's suitable/useable to send!!
