The power supply is WAY overkill I know, but part of a combo with the twelve hundres.. think I should ditch it and go with something else?

Also, i'm getting the full version of windows so if I change mobo's at all I don't have to re-buy it..

Ditch both the 1000W and the 1200, all you'll really need is a 600 or 900.

The Crucial SSD isn't as fast as the Sandforce drives

Unlocked CPU is WAAAAY too expensive and overkill

I'd go with the much more inexpensive 1333Mhz RAM from GSkill

You could get a 60GB SSD comboed with a 1TB storage drive. You'll see better performance from it running the OS and the HDD running the games anyway.

For a 480 I would go up to 850, that thing will eat through a 650W like nothing, I think you'll be cutting it pretty close with a 750W.

As for the RAM and CPU stuff you didn't address, it looks like you are interested in O.C.ing, which would be made easier with those parts.

An i5-760 is probably a better choice. The unlocked multiplier isn't necessary for OCing and certainly not worth the $100+ price premium.

For DDR3-1600, I'd pick this instead: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL $180

If you must spend $200+ on memory: G.SKILL ECO 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12000CL8D-8GBECO $220

Why those? I rather pick up something that runs off the standard 1.5V or lower than something that requires higher voltages.

I'm not certain DDR3-1600 is worth it either. This 2x4GB DDR3-1333 set is $150 with an additional $10 off promo code.

Thumbs up for this guy!

That memory, case, PSU, DVD Burner, and CPU are all overpriced. Replace the memory, case, PSU, and CPU with those that have been suggested by others in this thread.

There is also really no reason to be spending $45 on a DVD burner. A $20 Samsung, LG, or ASUS will do just as well.

That GTX 480 seems rather high as well. Grab this MSI for $430 AR. It's a reference design and MSI has been very supportive of the overclocking community.

Hey Guys,

I wanted to show you what I ended up with.. it was fun!

Intel core i7 950 cpu OC'ed @4.1Ghz
Evga Intel X58 3 Way Sli sockett 1366 motherboard1
12g gskill tri channel ddr31600 memory 3x4g
2 Msi Gtx480 Lightening Series videocards (SLI)
Western Digital Cavair Black 1Tb sata 3 hardrive
Samsung 22X Dl Dvd/rw with lightscribe
2 Ocz Vertex 2 120Gb SSd's in Raid0
Windows 7 64bit home premium
Corsair Pro Series 1200 watt power supply
Coolermaster Haf X 942 full tower case
3 70Cfm 120mm Sleeved fans
Prolimatech rev B cpu cooler
74 in 1 Media card reader

On top of this I bought some red cathodes and replaced a few more fans that were stock.

Plus cant forget the Dell U3011 30" monitor!

Still in testing but 3d mark vantage hit at just over 40k. Currently things are at (cpu 4.1ghz) & videocards at 800mhz up from 700 stock. Video memory bumped about 50mhz.

Here's a pic! Thanks for the help guys! I know I swayed a little from the suggestions, but very happy with the build so far!

Bestly rig! How do you like the U3011? I want a 30", but can't decide between it and the ZR30W.

To be honest? the only way I could explain the look is liquid... looks so incredibly clear and smooth.. Of all the purchases i've made thats the best one in my opinion.

Now I haven't seen the other monitor so I can't compare it, but I LOVE this dell.
