This sort of came as a shock so I wanted to share it with all of you.

Maybe the police should just hire one of these instead of "executing dogs" like that one officer was accused of doing.

The deer was confused. First with the unfamiliar area with no hiding places and her baby unprotected. Second by the attention she was receiving from the cat, the dog, and the people filming.

My impression is the women were stupid to let that dog run uncontrolled.

She was protecting her young, and she definitely wasn't slacking about it either.

Probably felt threatened by it. I think the dog might have been creeping up/growling at it and then retreating as the deer hurtled toward it.

Survival instinct was strong for that deer and weak for the dog and the cat. I know my dog would have been history long before that deer got close!

moral of story, don't leave your dog unleashed especially when there's a mother deer in the area

The dog ended up being fine, the cat was ok as well. The deer was just protecting its baby.

I do admire the cat's ninja skills though. It avoided getting pwned.

That's one stupid cat.

The cat wasn't stupid. The cat was fully able to handle his business and escape when it became necessary. That dog, otoh . . .

My Dane used to chase deer regularly in the woods where we walked. At one point, there was an adjoining golf course. It was startling to the golfers and hilarious to me to see a deer burst out of the woods onto and across the green with Bogie, my Dane, close behind!

Bogie would have chased horses, too, in Valley Forge Nat'l. Park, where we would also go, but he was under my voice control and I would simply call him off. The riders were always impressed. Dogs spooking their horses were a constant nemesis to them in parts of the park.

The one and ONLY time I ever saw Bogie intimidated by another animal was when a mother cow bulled him away from her calf.

Hell hath no fury . . .
