The PS3 can make a great system should Sony allow access for the open source developers to the RSX chip for graphics rendering. But so far they have totally ignored consumer's loud request for it.
Please sign the petition and let your voice be noticed by Sony.

Should Sony allow access to the RSX, the Linux operating system that would run on the PS3 in other OS, would have great resource accessible to it, therefor allowing people to truly use their PS3's as secondary PC's and doing fun homebrew apps on it, play media in various formats , for instance Open Source PC Linux games can be played on the PS3 in other OS, 3D Desktop environments (Compiz-Fusion for instance) would run properly in it and so forth. Also many people would like to use their current PS3's as media centers too.
I am currently considering getting a PS3 but not sure at the moment about it. However I know I would be getting one for sure should they allow RSX access.
So drop them a couple of lines and tell them what you think who knows?...and don't stop at just the petition shoot them an email or two call in ...this might make the PS3 experience better by multiples of times.
