With teams getting their QBs injured, what happens if they all get injured? Has it happend? During a game, is the coach just gonna call out for someone to volunteer hoping they played in HS or college? It'd def be a sight to see if a team had all the QBs on their roster get injured in one game, then have one of their WRs step up as QB.

Good question, I wonder if 3 qbs have gone down in 1 game and what happened then. Probably someone with throwing ability takes over like a RB or something.
 
Teams can only work with the roster they have. I'm sure at least one other guy was a QB at one point, so he'd probably take over.
 
Every team has at least 3 QBs on the depth chart. If they only have 2 actual QBs, the third will be someone that normally has another position.

There is also a rule about if the third string QB enters the game before the some point, that the 1st string QB can not reenter until like the 4th quarter.
 
There are so many players in the NFL that played QB at some point in their playing careers (they're usually converted to WRs or DBs), so even though they no longer play QB at the professional level, some are often listed as a possible emergency 3rd string QB. Worst case scenario (during a game) is that you end up having to run a lot more running plays than you'd like.

However the chances of going through 3 QBs in one game is so improbable, some teams have often chosen not to have 3 QBs on their roster (keeping them on their practice squad instead) in favor of an extra player such as a WR who can fulfill the position, a player such as Randle El is a perfect example.
 
Oh, the memories of when the Redskins had Brian Mitchell at running back. He played QB at college, but was drafted as a running back. (Still 2nd in the NFL for all time leader in total yardage; 23,000+ yards)

One of the most memorable plays: Line the running back up under center, and put the quarterback (Mark Rypien) in the backfield. The defense was "wtf?!" confused.
 
If I remember correctly this happened to the Jets just last year and they got one of their players who had played QB in college to take over.

Punter Craig Hentrich is the Titans' emergency QB. And considering the Titans are only carrying 2 QBs right now, with VY's quad injury, they just might have to use him.

That said, Hentrich has thrown for a TD before. :thumbsup:😀

You thinking of Brad Smith who played QB for Missouri? He was listed as a WR last year, but this year he's WR/3rd string QB, I think.
 
Teams can carry 53 players on their roster.

Only 45 players are active on a game day. Usually the 46th guy or the 3rd string QB is listed as the emergency QB.

Rarely do you see a team carry three starting QBs in their 45 man roster.

Its easier just to name two. Worst case. You don't throw the ball you just run it on every play. Or just run extremely short routes. There's bound to be one guy on the team that is capable of throw the ball 5-10 yards.

correct. they will use a WR or RB that has played the position before and simply run the ball. Then they pick up a Tim Rattay or Testaverde the next day.
 
Happened to the Washington Foreskins back in the 90's. Their running back was the super-emergency, backup QB, so he ended up playing last series or two. Might have been Brian Mitchell...more I think about it, I believe it was Mitchell who played QB that night.
