that would limit the pool of possible recipients greatly and could lead to alot of organ wasting, which organ donors wouldn't want. And 2) I'm sure organ donors wouldn't want to only donate their organs to a specific group of people, but save anyone's life.

I wouldn't knowingly donate my organs to a non donor. If you're not willing to donate then you can go to hell as far as I'm concerned. Nothing but selfishness.

that seems quite silly to me. You donate your organs to save whoever's life you can, but that's just my own opinion.

If the other person was never willing to do the same thing for another human being then no. I'm not willing to do a single thing to help someone who is too selfish to do the same thing for someone else. I carry the same principles in everything I do.

The main reason people don't mark the Organ Donation thing on their drivers license is they just don't know they have to or they don't think about it. I think the law should be changed so make it the reverse.

If you WANT to donate your organs, then that shoudl be the default.
If you do NOT want to donate your organs, then you should have to sign the card or put the sticker on it or whatever.

It's a shame that so many people die every day just because people don't bother to put the sticker on their DL. THere are tons of people that really don't care about donating their organs, but they just don't bother to sign their DL and put the sticker on so their perfectly good organs go to waste.

So I'd support a law that did that, but not a law that made it manditory.

this is something pro lifers cannot quibble about at all. they MUST support it
That makes no sense at all (and I'm pro-choice). Organ donation is a net zero sum game. Someone dies so someone lives.

prolifers believe life trumps rights.
so dead body that can keep another person alive..well clearly the life trumps rights of the dead. its sacred after all.
Let me give you a hint on something. When you say that all people of a certain group (any group) must all share some similar attribute, you are being a bigot. I know that it helps you assuage the guilt from your hatreds, believing that all so-and-so are a bunch of such-and-such, but it doesn't make your prejudices true. Far from it.

ugh holding up people to their own standards and beliefs is not bigotry.

Hell no! I would have no problem with being an organ donar if there was some way to ensure that the inevitable conflict of interest would always be biased towards keeping me alive to recover rather than declaring me brain dead so my organs could be farmed out.

Only if the medical industry transplants the organs FREE OF CHARGE to anyone for any part of the process! Funny how you give blood and they sell it. Funny how you donate organs, they sell them.

I'm sorry I somehow lost track of the program that funds the doctors, nurses, and thousnda of dollars worth of equipment required to complete such a surgery.

Oh thats right. there isn't one... How dare they charge us to save our life... but hey lets go to a football game i just bought great tickets and want to see the new quarterback.

While I am an organ donor, I would not support compulsory organ donation as it would infringe upon people's religious freedoms. Some religions prohibit things like organ donation and it's not right to force people to donate if it's against their beliefs.

Yes the internal organs though and maybe some skin grafts, as long as they don't touch the face because that would be very strange at the funeral. Closed casket and such.

If your dead you sure as hell aren't gonna use them...give them to someone who could use them...simple

WRONG! some people (like the chinese) actually believe you are still inside the body for some moment before you make the "journey"

It is my body and I decide what I want with it

whats next? grinding the bodies and throwing them to cattle feed since we run out of graveyards?

and the people with diseases will be fed to cows and then the people who eat the cows will get the diseases too!

I found this list and it may exclude the religions that do not support (I'm not sure), but it looks like *most* major religions support organ donorship.

OP should get shot for his poll. I support organ donation and am a donor myself, but it should be no means be a law. It was a simple yes/no question, but he decided to be an ass about it.

Who is to say they dont take them anyway?? I mean who here has had a death in the family and watched the undertaker and what they have done or asked them before going in the ground to show all the insides is still there. I am willing to bet they do it anyway for no one is going to ask or say anything about it.

Not for research but to give to someone who needs it ? Sure. But they're out of luck if they want my spleen though...

It's against my religion. You are supposed to go out of this world the same way you came in, with all your body parts.

What happens if you step on a land mine and not all parts can e found?

Some do. It's practically front-page news.
Plundered body parts implanted in thousands

wouldnt make it mandetory, but id be willing to give some one else the chance to live.

if i die of old age the organs wont be of much use anyway, but if were to die in a crash to more (not to tempt fate) i have an organ donor card. im a fitness fanatic, do alot of swimming, used to swim 50,000m a week so i have very strong heart and lungs, and well everything really...so who ever gets them i would class as a lucky ******! resting heart rate is some where round 40, max is 210 and i can swim 1500m in 17mins ..........i better write a disclaimer or something...that some one should only get my organs if they look afterthem and not be a george best and hit the whisky again
