A new law: mandatory organ donation after death

I have no problems with saving someones life with an organ of mine if I'm already dead...

But, I do not believe that anything should be mandatory... people have rights, and they should be able to make their own decisions.

unless someone has a medical, specific scientific, or religious reason why they CAN'T donate organs after they die, they should donate.

however, FORCING a donation is unethical.

i am an organ donor because i'm not a selfish prick.

how can you donate organs to yourself?

I don't know if you're just trying to be funny or if you think not donating organs makes someone a useless bastard. Assuming the latter, do you really want part of your body supporting a politician, pedophile, or murderer? I don't.

of corse not, that's what taxes are for. if you're dead than why does it matter if you give up your organs. im sure if it was in the bible people would be giving their organs out like hot cakes. stickem in a jar and bury them under a pyramid.

do you realize what the odds are that you'd give your organs to a politician, pedophile, or murderer? the odds are HEAVILY in the favor of them going to physically healthy, mentally healthy, financially stable people. besides, people in jail don't get transplants... they die.

I think that it is ok if the person is under a certian age, and also, dont froget, alot of older people have bad organs,

also, oifm the perosn died a violent death, i say no, if one in a hospital, ok,

i mea, this affects me as a parent died recently and in our state its pushed so hard, they wouldnt get off of our backs about it.

You are a stupid troll.... at least have a no option saying (No, I am willing to donate organs, but I dont feel there should be a law requiring it)

No. It's my damn body, and when I die, it becomes the property of my family. They can do what they want with it, you can't.

Seriously.... let your family sell the organs and make some money at least 😛 or pre-sell your organs and party it up! (anyone get my reference?)

So, let's say there's a new law introduced in the Senate that would make organ harvesting/donation mandatory without requiring consent of the deceased and/or his relatives.
.

I'm against it because I think a person should have rights over their own body, living or dead.

A law like that would also open up room for corruption, and possibly people being killed for their organs.

I don't give a crap. Take any part of my dead ass that you want. 😉 Besides, what else of a purpose does it serve? To decompose? If it's going to make someone else's life better, then the organs have no use sitting in a nonfunctioning hunk of junk.

I don't think organ donation should be forced; however, I do think the current system should be inverted. Everyone should be assumed to be an organ donar UNLESS they specify otherwise.

EDIT: Changed "shouldn't" to "should."

Yeah that sounds like the best idea to me.

now that is not a bad idea. kinda like how so many people forget to cash in those rebate coupons but never do.

You can't force people to give organs because of religious reasons...

which religions?

Pretty much all of them.

Only religion I could find that explicitly prohibits it is Gypsy. Looks like most encourage it.

I would vote in favor of this law. My reasoning is pretty selfish: In case I'm ever in need of an organ transplant, I want to make sure I get what I need; and I certainly don't care about my organs after I die.

NO.

Edit: I am an organ donor, but I am against forcing people to do it.

Yep. I'd be for a law that says you have to do something to NOT be a donor, though.

Actually, people in jail get better health care coverage than many people in the US. :disgust: and that includes transplants.
