I don't know which is more drastic - weight loss or color change. Pretty cool, though. Don't think it's photoshop, just a determined dude. I should do that...

Sure you can. I went from benching 75lbs to 150lbs in 2 months. Some people put on muscle faster than others.

Photoshop my ass... it's his posture has change. Take a look at his arms from the shoulder to elbow, elbow to wrist, and it's still the same length. It's an optical illusion because of his posture.
The arms are leaner (and a lot darker) too, that makes them look longer as well. Besides all that, the two pictures don't line up exactly, look at the height of his knees.

I went the other way... I went from 130lbs in high school to 170 in two months, all muscle (oil field)... I'm at 190lbs now, not a bit of fat. Haven't seen the gym once... just oil field work in the summer and snowmobiling (hardcore) in the winter.

How in the heck did you do that, like what exactly did you eat over that period?

I'm stuck at 179 (plus or minus 2lbs) no matter how much I excercise or eat. I'm also 5"10 btw. I'm cool at this weight... I don't really mind. Oh yeah.. I'm asian.

Hi. Referrer logs rock. Thanks for the (mostly) positive comments. heh. There's nothing wrong with being skeptical. I think I'd have a hard time believing it myself. However, I assure you all--nothing on my site is fabricated, altered or in any way not truthful. I did lose the weight that I said I did, I can lift 205 pounds 8 times (w00p, big deal), I do have a glorious Florida tan, none of my pictures have been modified in any way and my hair did look a little like Bruce Willis' in 5th Element for a little while. The reason my arms look longer now is twofold: first, yes, my posture has improved, but also, notice that I changed the angle of the camera slightly (it's lower in the first picture). Look at my (non-existent) shoulders, especially in the profile picture, and it's obvious the camera is placed higher. I created the site to motivate myself, and I guess it worked. I've also apparently motivated a lot of other people because I'm getting tons of hits and emails now, so that's kind of cool.

If you saw me IRL, you'd see that I'm really not overly-skinny. Take a look at my current pictures with clothes on and you'll see that I have a pretty normal build now. I am going to add some lean mass once I get rid of that last bit of fat that is covering my lower abs. I've not seen my "6-pack" in over a decade and that's a goal of mine right now.

If any of you other nerds think I can help you with your own program, feel free to drop me a line.

If that is in 4 months, he's for SURE used anabolic steroids, or cutting agents like T3/DNP. But so what - he should be an example that anabolic steroids CAN and are used safely.

Welcome and Congratulations.

That's a pretty amazing turn around.

No, I've NEVER used steroids. I'm 100% opposed to them, I think steroid users are out of their minds. I don't even use any fat-burning supplements. All I did was adopt a sound, all-natural diet and bust my ass in the gym every single day. That's it.

Hey John, welcome to Anandtech, I saw your post at bodybuilding.com and thought it might be cool to have some of the guys here see your site.

Sorry for the nerd designation, but you are in IT ;)

Yea I don't know why people think you did supplements. I lost bout 50 pounds in 3 months too (didn't really gain any muscle b/c I wasn't lifting).

I've only scanned the site but doing what you did if you hadn't consistently worked out/excercised in the past is pretty admirable and very unusual. Your diet looked solid from the getgo and to put strength like that on while on such a calorie deficient diet is difficult (made easier in an untrained individual but still difficult).

I've been doing a more approachable version of the same thing starting Dec 29 I've gone (at 5,11 also) from 192 pounds down to around 173 at the moment and put strength on (I've been working out for years so losing weight and gaining strength I'm really happy with). I'm 25 and now am as thin as when I was 17 but I'm going to keep at it because, by god, I want all that belly fat gone! My benchpress is in the same ballpark as yours.

BTW I started with thermogenics for a couple of weeks to give me a jump start but I've always believed that if you need supplements to lose weight chances are that when you stop them you'll gain the weight back, so I wanted to be sure I could lose it without them and so I have. Protein is the only thing I supplement with. Here is my stash! I eat 1700 calories/day split over 5-6 meals all high in protein and protein first thing when I wake up and last thing before bed.
