My grandparents were from Iowa. They fought about politics until they divorced. Grandpa was a union man and staunch Democrat, my grandmother was a dyed in the wool Republican.. .why the hell they ever got married I'll never know, but they stayed married over 30 yeard IIRC.

Whenever I read a "Farmer loves Trump" story I simply want to ask them individually if they appreciate how he bashed the hell out of them economically.
Somehow the Dems have lost the rural vote, even though they normally provide much more aid to rural residents than Reps. Kind of ironic that the DFL stands for Democratic Farmer Labor. Somehow they have managed to lose both the Farmer and Labor segments, despite Rep policies that favor the rich.

It does blow my mind. Farmers feel they are self-made men and don't want government on their backs, which is a talking point of Reps. But you better believe they will take farm subsidies and claim its their right. Dems often push increased environmental regulations on farmers which may be a factor.

It's about fear with a side of yearning for simplicity (no messy details, context or history, just black hat and white hat). One side is way better at peddling this than the other, and some audiences are way more receptive to it than others.

Illegals, gays, trans, commies, young Swedish environmentalists, socialists, globalists, BLM, kneeling football players, Antifa, the nefarious Dr. Fauci, the Black Riders, "woke" things, coastal elites, electric car advocates....quite a host of fantasy barbarians trying to destroy the good ol American way of life.

It's depressing and hard work to try to find answers to complex problems. Better just to find some group to blame.

You speak of Labor. That sounds like something that was lost between the Reagan - Clinton era.
Going moderate has its consequences, such as losing the narrative.

And fuck Ron Howard who turned that shithead's book into a movie. Thanks Ron for doing a nice piece of a radical in the Nazi party.

They probably legally couldn't. People forget that divorce in America was practically illegal for most intents and purposes until like the 1970s. I forget the exact ruling (it happened in the UK first I believe but quickly found footing here) but it created a no-fault divorce option, but prior to that you basically had to prove that one side was cheating (like had to have them admit to it in court - which might have been a literal crime in some areas), or had to have like several people (including like pastors and shit) and both sides sign off that it was unworkable. Even abuse (marital rape was still legal in much of the US) was not grounds for divorce. Hell today, there's still 3 states that require both parties signing off for a no-fault divorce.

At first I was like WTF are you talking about, then looked up and saw he directed the film adaptation of JD Vance's Hillbilly Elegy. Ugh.

Republican voters are mostly white, Christian and nominally straight.

They don't care about economics, they don't care that Biden gives them more farm subsidies, they don't care that their Party's only function is to funnel wealth and power to the already wealthy and powerful.

They care about white Christian nominally straight people losing their privilege. No, this is not a new concept and it often gets bogged down by a bunch of obliviating and useless words, but once you realize that it's all about the loss of privilege, and that "Make America Great Again" simply means "give white Christian nominally straight people back their privilege", you can stop be confused, flabbergasted, or whatever it is that centrists and left-leaning centrists suffer from.

As we see on this forum a majority of people think the same. They do this for the same reason Trumper's do, the comfort that conformity provides and the mutual ape like hooting at others. Hand and hand with self hate goes a profound inability to see oneself in the mirror. Denial is how we defend against feeling inferior. In every pact of emotional cowards a few will stand up and resist.

Ignorance and stupidity.

Specifically, you overthought it.

Your a delusional in your application of observation of behavior to result. What they think doesn't matter. Their actions do.

Ask yourself, on this forum, do our actions damage society the same as those who worship Trump? Or do our actions benefit society?

Do you feel we are trying to create a dictatorship?

We mock those who oppose us for comedy, but do you feel we are actively trying to prosecute and imprison them?

I just put two examples quickly, but take a moment to ask yourself. This forum quarrels endlessly, all the factions of this forum. Ignoring the foreign agents, do you feel our actions in real life are actively harmful? Even the most extreme person here is still going to seek equality, equity, and justice. The disagreements are about how to get there.

You pretend to be holier then thou and seek to mock us all. But you are not special. Your not standing up for anything but ill conceived narcissism.

Are your actions in real life any different from ours? Do you not also reach out to those around you and try to make what you live in better in what limited way you know how? Is it not action that matters?

Mock: an act of ridicule or derision

Ridicule: implying a deliberate often malicious belittling

What you are doing is putting people down. Putdowns are why people are sick. You are making the world sicker out of your own sickness.

It is not surprising you do not see it. You lack the courage by implying it's all about humor. It's about self hate and a need to project it elsewhere so you can feel it vicariously. I didn't overthink or even think at all. I know who I am. I know the shit the ego is up to. I looked at myself without any mercy at all. My Mother told me to be honest; to her horror I did what she asked.

and you mock us by calling us apes hooting at each other.

it would seem that self hate exists in you, and by your logic, you are making the world sicker all on your own.

By your own logic, your just another ape hooting in self hatred.

your narcissistic delusion here is that you somehow think your being honest with your self. That you feel your some how different.

Read your own post:

Your just another insecure ape, full of self hate, instinctively flinging shit at those around it. You think the fact your doing it to our faces somehow makes you different. But the truth is you have flung so much shit your mirror is covered in it and you no longer can see your self at all.

Jack says he, his daughter, and granddaughter, 3 generations, all struggled to survive after birth. He has no idea his boy Trump would see to it there is no way a 4th generation would get the care and support needed to do so.

Jack's bro says"I'm a republican I guess." Talks about all the social services that allowed him to survive falling off the silo and getting the lift he uses to get into and out of equipment. Their boy Trump has no love for him. He likes workers that don't fall and break their backs.

Jack is in his 60s and working 18hr days during harvesting season. In the cold icy wind. He looks at the Mrs and tells her he doesn't know how much longer he can keep doing it. His boy Trump would ensure he does it until he dies.

They talk about how farmers there call a successful farm one where the wife works in town and has employer provided health insurance. If they didn't vote against their own interests they could help elect leaders that will pass universal health care. But nope! Rather cut off their own noses to spite their faces.

My favorite part is that the covid money made their ambulance service possible. These people are their own worst enemies. They'll keep voting like sportsball fans right up until they get toe tagged as a direct or indirect result of it.

While I feel bad and sad for some of these people, there is a much bigger picture at play here - we have long passed the point where they are not only their own worst enemies, but they are my worst enemies too.

These are all Nazis at this point, just waiting for their version of a great leader to get power, and that is Trump. Anyone interested in voting for him again is my enemy.

Don't we honor people who treat us as we feel we deserve?
