you commented on the bigger box being cheaper, I've noticed this at my Stater Brothers. The Cap'N Crunch big box was a buck cheaper then the much smaller box. There has to be a logical reason, because who would pay more to get less?

Dateline needs to do a special on this, I want to find out why! shall we start a petition?

Haha... I'm with you! It seriously is so weird. You get 6 ounces less in the smaller box for 80 cents more. Makes no sense. They could do a combo To Catch a Predator with whatever other thing it is that they do to look into stuff like this. Maybe there's a pedophile behind it all?? hehe

For anybody who is interested, I sent the following to the Life people on Sunday, and received the reply noted below today:

Hello,

I have been an avid lover of Life cereal for about the past year and a half. I had always bought the smaller (15 ounce) boxes until about 9 months ago when I decided to try a bigger box since it was cheaper overall. I have noticed that the cereal in the 21 ounce boxes tastes noticeably different than the 15 ounce boxes, and I would like to know why. In my local city, Soandso, Utah, the 15 ounce boxes are roughly $4/box while the 21 ounce boxes are significantly cheaper at $3.20/box. What's the deal? Every time a family member accidentally gets a box (or several) of the larger size I have to eat Life cereal that doesn't taste like it should and I am disappointed. Any idea why this is the case?

Thanks,

Tom:

My five year old daughter doesn't like mashed potatoes. She likes cooked potato cut up with butter and salt, but not mashed.

I ask you have you ever met a child who doesn't like mashed potatoes?

I think she's wierd.

Yeah, Lola. Sorry, but I actually prefer Life when it's only had about 30 seconds to soak milk into it. The first minute of breakfast every morning is blissful, because the Life hasn't had enough time to get soggy yet, but it has soaked up plenty of milk so it's cruncy but soggy at the same time... hehe.

WHAT?! Are you overweight? That's a box every 2 days!

Haha. Actually, I am probably underweight by normal standards. I weigh 165 and I'm between 6'3" and 6'4" tall. I eat a lot because I am quite active (I get an average of an hour of vigorous exercise every day, either through running or biking), so I tend to go through a box every 2 days or so.

Definately not alone. I've ALWAYS preferred soggy cereal. It really makes no sense whenever I ask myself why.

Oh, I should also mention that that's only the amount of Life that I go through. Half of my cereal each morning is Cheerios, it's just that boxes of Cheerios last a lot longer.

I always pour in only a little Life cereal so it stays crunchy. So I'll end up eating 6 bowls of cereal but they add up to 2 normal bowls.

No. Please, for all our safety, chain up the anti-christ in the basement.

Nice! That's similar to what I do. I always end breakfast by pouring just a little bit of Life back into my vanilla soy milk and eating it quick before it gets soggy... mmmmmm.
