A large company used my idea.

God...look at all the noobs ganging up on a old timer. Pathetic. In my day, we had more respect.

In those old days most were smart enough not to make such a stupid post but it was a lot worse back then.

Also you need to nef more to matter. ;)

Stop giving out ideas? Patent them.....even then good luck keeping big dogs away from stealing it hehe

How would he patent this idea if it was a idea for a company to offer a service?

That's like saying you can patent a idea that microsoft should release new OS every few years.

You can't patent ideas. Op, are you/were you a CS major? A disproportional number of CS majors seem to come up with these supposedly brilliant ideas and think that the design and actualization of said ideas are trivial. I don't know why that is since a lot of them probably have more ability to create than people of most other academic backgrounds.

Consider yourself lucky!

A year ago I contacted a company whose products we use to inquire about changing some key data which is presented to the user. After getting through multiple levels of clueless support personnel, I reached somebody in development who agreed with my view on their implementation of this, and proceeded to send me a 20+ page contract (at some microscopic font size) that I would have had to read, complete, and submit on behalf of my company, stating we make no claims to these changes and blah blah blah. Screw that. I told them I'd just be buying from another company that understands what RFC's are and can comprehend them while designing their products.

IMO, implementing your idea in order to improve the product for you is thanks enough.

WOW, when did they start allowing dickheads to run rampant here?

I suggested it. They could have acknowledged it is all I'm saying.

Pretty much have always allowed it. You have to get pretty flagrant to get B&

*looks at join date* Really?

You act like a lot of the people here were not banned from one time or another or even if that date matters.

It's more about what you posted and op brought this on himself.

Also not even 1k posts makes your comments even sadder. ;)

Mere ideas are not patentable.

Also, there is no IP in a suggestion. If you suggest something to a company without an NDA and/or a licensing agreement, they are generally free to use it. At least that is how the law works in the US.

Years ago I told Bin Laden that he should run one of his recruits for the President of the United States of America. OBL never thanked me but BO did send me a fruit basket.

Ive met a few people from this forum in person and they've all been great people. You strike me one of those people that's a total dick here and when you meet them in person they are all polite and mousey.

Did it include clementines?

If it did I am super jealous.

Oh, geez, sorry. But, really, all the good ones were never banned (except Macbaine and Loki), and they're still here under different names or moved on...still miss M4H.
