It would be nice if they actually acknowledged you and perhaps even give you something free in return for the idea. As if a corporation would do something like that though.

I remember when I was a little kid before the Ziplock slide lock bags they were coming out with all sorts of different ones like the one where it turns green to identify that it's fully sealed etc. I remember joking with my family saying that in the future these bags will be so sophisticated they'll be like a regular zipper. Sure enough, they eventually came up with it. I should have patented it. Haha. Not like I would have been able to afford or even think of that as a little kid though.
