Look what happen to Jack White, he kicked that guy's ass, and lost in court.

It wasn't even a fight. It was assault.

i just gave him what he had coming.
And now you're paying for it. While he may have deserved it, you went about solving the problem the wrong way, and now it's a bigger problem.

What would you differently if you had the chance to go and do it again? Anything?

FWIW- I actually agree with the OP. You grab my wife's ass in front of me, you deserve to get punched. Period.

That said, the smart thing to do would be to get the bouncers to "talk" to the guy and get him tossed out. They'd rather heave a guy to defuse a situation like that than have a fight break out since someone could conceivably sue the club for "not protecting them" or something.

I'll agree with you, but 1 hit should have been enough. Pinning the guy on the dance floor and taking five more shots was excessive. Furthermore, it was not even the guys woman, was just a friend.
Agreed on the first point, disagree on the second point; randomly grabbing some woman's butt in a club warrants a punch. That's just wrong on about 100 levels.
Sadly, it is very common.
True, but it's still completely wrong. Putting your hands on a semi-sexual part of a woman's anatomy against her will is assault. That is happens so often is just evidence of how many misogynistic morons are running around out there. FWIW- the guy who got his ass kicked probably won't be grabbing any asses in the near future (although an assault charge filed against him would have had the same effect).

ya know what's funny? if this thread started off like, "Hey, some guy grabbed my female friend's ass twice, what should I have done?"

the majority of replies would have been to kick his ass. :D

i find it funny that everyone is telling him that the guy went overboard, yeah way to much violence, etc

when in fact had he posted that someone kept grabbing his freind/gf/wife's ass everyone on here would have been stating how they would have punched him out, beaten him to a pulp, knocked his teeth out, broken his hand, taken a bat to him etc. etc.

You're right. It's sort of a double standard, but hindsight is 20/20.

And 99.999% of those posters that stated that have never been laid and most of them have probably never had a girlfriend.

No, I wouldn't. I would likely want to, but I wouldn't.

The last thing I need is to end up in jail over something trivial, I'm worth far more to her where I am than I would be in jail, with a record, etc.

Backing down is always the first choice. As a CCW holder I am legally obligated to back down, leave, etc. (with the exception of my own home). Even ignoring that, though, it's just common sense. Injured pride isn't worth the legal complications of a beat down.

Enter me, representing the remaining .001%:
Don't hit him first.
Grab his ass.
And he will hit you.
And then if you are half the e-thug you claim to be, you can clean his clock and when he sues you, at least you will be able to say he hit you first.

And if you are not half the e-thug you claim to be, you will get your teeth knocked out and a $15k settlement :D

I would of been sued for $100,000.00 then because I would of pummeled the guy until not even his own mother would recognize him.

Right, in both cases. ;)

I must agree with the majority of posters here. He should have let the bouncers handle the situation. A lot of us might want to do something like this as a knee jerk reaction but the reality is this is not 1850 when you could have a dual or a slug fest and get away with it. This is 2004 where we pretend we are more civililized at best but definitely more litigious.

That's what I would have done. Gut punches hurt a lot more anyway.

This is why people say "You want to take this outside"

Your word against his

Tell the judge that he kept grabbing your crotch and making lewd comments. If you are going to have to pay, might as well hit his dignity as well.

I doubt that'll fly, since statements were already made to the police.

May I suggest:
Sexual Assault
Sexual assault is understood as any unwelcome sexual contact, either directly or through clothing, which is committed by threat, or by force, or without the consent of the other person. Sexual contact may include deliberate contact between a body part of, or an object wielded by, one person, and the body part of another person.

Suggest to him that your girlfriend wasn't planning on pressing charges. But, even if he is only convicted on (whatever degree) charges of sexual assault, he'll be labeled as a sex offender forever.

On the other hand, he has a lawyer already (I assume). I suggest getting one, and giving the lawyer all the details. I'm sure that based on "sexual assault", there may be some easy out of court compromise.

I guess people forget that grabbing a woman's ass can land a man in jail for sexual assault and get sued up the arse for sexual harassment. Which is likely why he was afraid to press charges in the first place.

So A, he assaulted your girlfriend (find a witness?).
And B, he didn't press charges.

So the odds of that guy getting pain and suffering is very ill. Not unless your friends lawyer is a push over. He will most definitely though have to pay for his medical bills. If he has a good lawyer, the judge will likely split the liability 50/50.

anyway....would your friend have gotten away with it if he punched the dude and left?
not advocating it, just wondering.

someone brought up jack white as an example which is hilarious enough that i think we should all pause a moment and picture jack white in a fight.

an hour later, the police arrived at the bar, as well as the paramedics (i knocked out one of his teeth and another one was hanging by a thread). he did not press charges, but the police took down a report.

flashfoward to today, i just got served with a summons by the court. he is suing me in civil court for 15k. eight is for the dental and the rest is for pain and suffering.

so i know i was a dumbass for hitting him, but what the f***? men should not be allowed to get away with that sh*t. i just gave him what he had coming.

punching him made you think you did right? he tried to punk you? let me tell you, others that are in that situation might have punched him also because some have a one track mind...in your heart i think you know you are in the wrong as well

A long planned night with your wife. Beautiful night, lets go out. You get there and some perverted loud mouth starts grabbing on your wife like you're not even there. Tensions are high, the place is packed.

It is much easier thinking about the more logical and appropriate answer while we have the pleasure of answering them on a message board.

If you weren't there with him, how can we blame him for doing the wrong thing? I'm not for pro violence of course. But that loud mouth instigated what could of been a nice night out on the town. Yet you like to lynch the guy because you figure you would of down differently even though you weren't there. Boggles my mind.
