She asked for their opinions on what HE should do. That post everyone is agreeing with turns it around into how demoralizing and depressing of a girlfriend she is.

And they gave their opinions on what HE should do, IE, keep working on the Jeep and not gaf what she says about that specific project unless she wants to help.

They could have helped convince her but I'm sure her opinion of jeeps has risen greatly if she read that reply. Even when they know they're incorrect, everyone becomes defensive when attacked.

We'll just have to disagree (and it seems my opinion disagrees with most of this forum). We don't know much about these people and handled differently, I think there was a possibility they could have had a new female member (something most forums lack) and even if she doesn't help her BF, had a place to go if she wanted to buy him a gift like say gears/diffs that she knows nothing about but would have really been appreciated.

EDIT: My wife doesn't understand how I want $100 flashlights or $100+ knives. She has told me this and my explanations don't do it. A few years ago though, she started reading forums. Maybe it was a good thing she didn't join and post or she would have been run off since she would have admitted she thought it was a waste of money. I few months later on our anniversary, I opened up the leatherman skelatool that I've been wanting.

No body wants there girlfriend to help them fix a car. I call shens on that whole reply. Whats next you want her to go play football with your buddies or play in your poker games?

I love my alone time without a doubt. I get that during my runs, which is one of the main reasons I love running at night. I would enjoy if my gf took interest in my hobbies. Do I want her to build my computers for me? No. Would I like if she learned stuff about it and we could have intelligent conversations about it then I'd love it.

Showing interest and helping out with my hobbies is a good thing in moderation.
