First good thing: No SATA drivers were needed like normally. My Raptor was auto detected :)
Also, you can load drivers via CD & USB flash memory drive now instead of just teh stupid F6 + floppy :)

Added:

Wow.
Well, first impressions:
Screenie

Feels like OS-X when opening windows, minimizing, etc.
Very kewl, albeit late in the game.
I love the translucent borders above windows.
Aparently, the kewl window effects do not function on an integrated video card.

The version of IE included = total Firefox ripoff.
Except FF is still much better.

With nothing loaded, it's running smoothly, but is using 400 MB RAM, or at least has 400 MB PF usage!

Don't have 2 GBs of RAM? Looks like we're gonna need it.
At least it's not like the 4054 version i used a year ago that sucked up 600 MB.

They really need to fix install time though. I didn't remember to time it, but it was at least 35 minutes.

Another funny note: When dual-booting, XP Pro is now referred to as Legacy (Pre-Longhorn) Microsoft Windows Operating System

Alright, for those of you wondering on games, i haven't had any time to install anything yet, but i will do my best to try out the programs, etc., you guys have asked about sometime this weekend.

Here's some thoughts from NFS4:

I should also mention that is fast SPEED wise. It is very SLOW as far as intuitiveness goes. It is proving hard for me to get used to the GUI changes and how everything works now. A lot of simple things that ones has become accustomed to doing in Windows XP (or even Windows 2000 or Windows 98 for that matter) are torn up and tossed out with Vista Beta 1.

The whole documents/virtual folders thing is very confusing to me. Anyway, to get an idea of what I'm talking about, read the article I linked a few posts up.

I agree.

I find everything runs so smoothly, but it is a tad confusing getting around now.

posting this on vista right now, takes about an hour to do the install.

honestly, it's not worth the trouble. it's clearly still in early development, slow loading, high memory usage(over 300mb with clean boot), and compatibility issues.

I'm reinstalling xp first thing tomorrow morning.

You betcha ;)

I wanna be a beta testor! How do you get to? Jump through hoops that are on fire while drinking a corona with a lime in your nose for Microsoft?

download the torrent?

Actually, I've tried that...Every torrent I find has exceeded connections...

This is merely dual-boot on my Raptor.

I'll be running XP Pro for my normal stuff.

I had to try it out though, since i hear they have fixed alot since the last version i used, which was the 4054 alpha.

um ever heard of a secondary partition? secondary hard drive?

tools who nef and say people who try out the vista beta are fools should just go away. i for one cant wait to try out and test the new features. yes it will be buggy. but i was one who installed a Whistler build on an older hdd before XP even had a name.

There's no way Vista will be as big of a release as XP was. It'll look "prettier" and have a few interesting features. I bet that is all. Really, for me, stability and such is already perfect with XP.

Perhaps because the cost/benefit ratio for those chips is not great?
Mass consumers aren't like people who spend the cost of an entire budget PC on a video card. 1-2GHz checks email, surfs the web, and plays the Sims 2 and Deer Hunter just fine. They're not going to buy a new computer just because it's faster. They'll buy a new one when the old one is broken or has too much spyware.
