No. But keep in mind that this sort of thing should be for "normal people" too. Normal people aren't like, "Sweet! That's like Half Life!" They're all wondering, "Why can't I understand these people... they aren't aliens!?"

I'm not saying it WAS a HL reference. I'm just saying it was like it.
You don't need to know what they were saying. It just makes them cooler and more mysterious.
Think of how dumb the Stormtroopers sound EVERY time they talk. You don't want that same connotation/reaction when the Death Trooper talk. They are supposed to be bad-ass.

saw the 2D one

this was definitely much better than the force awakens (i wouldn't bother watching that again if i was flipping through the channels)

good editing and a plot that for the most part makes sense makes a huge difference.

snarky imperial droid was the right amount of humor
wtf was that 'master switch' business...
vader was used pretty well
i really didn't mind cg tarkin, though as soon as he started talking though you could tell something was off
lol @ old school robotic access tape library
lol @ buttface man mauledface dude cameos

I guess they kind of had to keep it a secret with Tarkin and all to preserve the surprise of his presence. But I swear, if Disney were to do a contest on youtube, "Be the voice of Tarkin in the new Rogue One!" they absolutely could have found a hardcore super nerd out there somewhere who had the tone and the mannerisms down so pat you would absolutely swear to god it was the real deal.

there's probably someone out there that would pay disney to do it

Did it seem strange that Vader choked Krennic even though he was the same rank as Tarkin. I think they both had the same number of blue+red badges.

that must have been a costume error, because based on EVERYTHING that happened in the story, Krennic was clearly beneath Tarkin.

Probably because of his white uniform vs the normal color uniform we see tarkin has.

Same number, just different colors

Darth Vader scene 1 was dumb and the dialog was very out of place for him. Also, isn't he supposed to have a chain for a cape? Something about the costume was off, but I guess that could be excused by assuming he has changed his outfit over the years.

Darth Vader scene 2 at the very end was great though.

A few too many characters. Seemed like at one point, some of the extra characters got off the spaceship to walk around just to run right back to it and leave, a bit of annoying filler IMO. I did like the droid, and the murderous rebels were a nice thing to see rather than it being a happy Disney story where everyone is clearly good or evil.

Main character seemed way too cocky and spoiled. What did she have going for her other than being the daughter of someone important? I feel like living as a rebel from such a young age would leave her a bit more humbled.

Long range comms: is this a new thing? I don't remember such things from the other movies, and seems like it could change the way the universe works. I'm talking about when the rebel captain guy talked to the main rebel base from his ship when they were light-years away.

Overall rating: better than any of episode 1-3. Worse than return of the Jedi & ep 7, but not a movie I regret watching by any means.

One other thought kept going through my mind at the end as well.. who builds these bases? Who was the brainchild that thought putting the dish alignment button was well placed on the railing (IDK what you call where it was) hanging off the base for no other reason than to give vertigo. I'd say maybe visual alignment but how one could do that with a ship in space which is what the stupid thing is for negates that. To say nothing of the random opening and closing shaft that we're meant to believe that will cut a leg off if caught in it. I couldn't help but think of Galaxy Quest and the engine room.

Every movie since ANH has had structures with unnecessarily deep pits and walkways next to cavernous drop offs with no railings. Which seems really dumb when 90% of your employees wear helmets that obstruct most of their field of vision.

Reports are coming in that the Star Wars novel "Catalyst" suggests that Jyn and her mother are Force Sensitive.

Liked it. A lot. But I'm not picky and plot holes don't deter me. 🙂

Downsides was meh music (that surprised me), and the droid used the "Chances of us dying are..." joke too many times.

I loved that they killed everyone. IMO, that gives even more meaning Ep IV because we now understand the severity of the sacrifice.

Also, Vader is a bad ass.
