I know my roadmaps I just question your misuse of them.

R700 is due Q2
Still waiting for proof on that.

OMG a PAIR of 9600GTs for SLI for $260!!![/b]
after 2-MiRs
http://www.ncixus.com/products...sku=28428&promoid=1020

you still believe that GX2 is worth a *premium* of over $340?
I would never spend that kind of money. The Governor of New York however might have the extra cash to get the best card ever made though.

The 3870 was upwards of $500 when it first launched and I don't see that being worthwhile.

This is why I had the foresight to buy an SLI motherboard.

You will have *proof* when it comes :p
-that is the best i will do for you.

. . . and i *agree* .. i have stated many times that the HD3870X2 was "disappointing" ... and of course, i had the foresight to buy a CrossFire MB.
--3870x2 won't be "disappointing" at $350 [for me] though :)

let me fix this for you, nRollo .. you left somethings out:
GX2>HD3870x2>8800U>8800GTX>8800GTS>8800GT> HD 3870> HD2900xt & 9600Gt

In other words you have no idea.

... and of course, i had the foresight to buy a CrossFire MB.
In other words you bet on the wrong horse. If you had a SLI Motherboard you could drop in 2 9600GTs for less than you probably paid for that one stinky 2900.

GX2>9800GTX>8800U>8800GTX>3870X2>8800GTS>8800GT>9600GT>3870

Let me fix that for you.

Lol wtf? 8800GTX > 3870X2 ?

I thought you were unbiased nowadays, I see I was wrong

Either way, both companies line up sucks considering we are in 2008

Intel should put out a monster of a GPU to get them both to do something interesting

Nope, you broke the last one .. even nRollo grudgingly gave his congratulations to HD3870x2 as the fastest single-slot solution ... you have not gained any credibility or done much study while you were away. Too bad .. i was hoping for some sort of challenge in debating facts instead of silly semantics and misrepresentation of facts to show that you are still so One-sided. 3870x2 was crowned winner - even for a short time - by most of the fair and trustworthy tech sites. To dispute this calls something of yours possibly into question.

That "stinky" Hd2900xt cost me $330 back Last May! .. with free Orange Box!! ... letsee, 9 months playing DX10 games as well as with an 8800GTS that would have cost $75 more and would still cost too much to buy another 8800GTS for SLi

There was no 9600GT back last May. Neither was there one 2 months ago when i added a cheap $140 2900Pro that brought my rigs performance up to Ultra speeds - $470 total :p

really cheap

and i do have an "idea" ... bookmark this thread and remind me at the end of Q2 if r700 isn't at the very least "announced"

rose.gif

EDIT - Q2 ,, remind me July 1

You realize that Q1 is over in about 8 business days, right?

typo . . .Q2

i meant H1 ... July 1 begins H2/Q3 - i did get it right in another thread before you caught it in this one:
ALL i have to say is - *remind* me - letsee, July 1 - if r700 is not at least "announced"

i'll edit it thanks

and remind me ... this July 1

5 weeks from now, I don't think you would take a loss by not buying/selling now. Your 3870x2 can't be slow in anything, except crapsis?

It has a few quirks that I did not have with my 8800 ultra. I wish the 9800X2 had 1.5GB (768 each) instead of 1.0GB. That's were both seem to be struggling with 2560x1600 displays. Heck slap 1GB for each GPU. Memory is cheap enough. You'd think for $600 it would have 2GB. ;)

I didn't leave anything out Apoppin- I specifically stated I was talking about single GPU cards, because that is indicative of the level of technology a company is at.

The fact is since November of 2006, the closest ATi has come to having a high end/enthusiast level card with a single GPU is when the launched the 2900XT that competed for 3rd place only, and was nowhere near the top two cards.

The 2900XT, 8800U, and 8800GTX shouldn't be on either of our lists because they are EOL, although there are still lots of GTXs around.

The only 2900XT you can buy at newegg now is $470 and would be owned by a $170 8800GT, so you tell me if they belong on the list.

you can limit AMD all you want by your "artificial restrictions"

my revised list is correct for single slot solutions for people withOUT multi GPU MBs

GX2>HD3870x2>8800U>8800GTX>8800GTS>8800GT> HD 3870> HD2900xt & 9600Gt

the only good thing about 2900xt being so ridiculously expensive is that i can still sell MINE for well over $200 - i paid only $330 for my brand new 2900xt back last May - all it was EVER worth :p

i am keeping mine .. 2900xt is a real "curiosity" and may even be a collectors item some day

Nah just a Freudian slip when I put in the 9800GTX.

The 3870X2 is really not that bad of a card.

it is a "sandwich" card just like the GX2 :p

No, not "that" bad .. for the price ... when it drops sub $350 LMK
-i am all over it [next week?]
:D

and Freudian slips are usually "sexual"
...
