1) Comparing 9800GTX to GX2 does put 9800GTX in good light, but that's only because GX2 is such poor value.

2) GF5->GF6 (2x) the performance, GF6-GF7 (about 50-60% to 7800GTX 256), GF7-GF8 (2x). Based on this Real next gen part should have been at least 50% faster than 8800GTX 768.

This is where the disappointment lies.

3) 8800GTX is now $289 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16814130072. Comparing the cost of 8800GTX at debut ($500+) to what 9800GTX will cost has little relevance to today. The way I look at it is that NV is just complacent since ATI isn't threatening their market share, so why bother pull out GT200? So knowing that NV can introduce a much much better graphics card today is disappointing since deep down you know that 9800GTX isn't representative of the firm's true potential.

I am going to bet that NV will replace this card rather quickly with GT200 as soon as HD4xxx comes into play. This is ATI's chance to regain the performance crown.

I also agree with this which is why i dont really want to spend the money on a new card right now but I am hoping ati will get their stuff together and force nvidia to make an earlier than planned release. Hopefully within my 90 day step up lol.
