This doesn't suprise me one bit. They even treat their employess poorly. Unfortunately, the only store around here worth shopping at is Wal-Mart. The alternative (food-wise) is a local grocery store with poor quality food (I won't even get into how bad the place smells), and Food Lion (which has had to jack prices way up).

I'm stuck shopping at Wal-Mart.

Sounds to me like you need to be a little more aggressive about getting what's coming to you. Do you really think they are going to put much effort into something that's eventually going to cost them money?

It sucks, but it's the way it goes. I'm sure if you slipped at Target you wouldn't get much better treatment.

So what you are saying is that if I fall in a store, I should stay down and yell, then act like I'm fading in and out of consiousness. That will get me the attention I deserve.

And perhaps demand they get an ambulance for you. Then maybe they will realize that they screwed up big time and that you're not going to let them act like it didn't happen.

It's not thier fault you fell on your ass, "wet floor" sign or not. I've slipped and fallen plenty of times in my life, and I've never sued anyone over it.

I once hit a patch of ice on an otherwise dry road, and flipped my truck on it's side. Should I have sued the highway department for a new truck since they didn't have a "caution: icy" sign there?

He also arranged to have my clothing replaced with in store items of lesser value that are probably made in China.

As if the clothes you had on were made anyplace else?

Sorry to hear about your back! I've been slowly developing back problems (I'm only 24!), so I understand how frustrating it is.

Good luck with the recovery! Stick to shopping at Target 🙂

NotFred: Did you even read the whole story??

It is indeed their fault! I went there to shop, not to have some dumb asses start soaking floors around me! Once I stepped in the chemical, it was impossible not to fall. They knew I was there. They said nothing. They are negligent.

It wasn't like I slipped on a banana peel in the produce section!

I shop at wal-mart. I buy my groceries and pet supplies there. Good-n-cheap.

but yeah, I know they dont care a thing about the people who shop there 🙂

I live in Southern California. Why are people so crazy about Wal Mart? The prices are not that great. The store I went to looks trashy. I prefer Target any day.

In some towns, it's all they have.

They're not obligated to tell you they're going to be cleaning...and if you expect more out of workers that make 8 bucks an hour you're kidding yourself. I know I worked at the grocery store and I could give 2 left test1cles about the customer becuase when it came down to it I didn't care about the company and i knew I was only there for the summer...that being said I always treated the customers with respect and occassionally went out of my way to help them...but to expect more is not reasonable. I do think that it is illegal not to have wet floor signs up if you're mopping or the floor is wet...I think they can get sued for that. That being said, if I owned a walmart I probably wouldn't go out of my way to help you just becuase you're 1 person out of many customers and they can afford to lose you. If I worked and a smaller place with a niche crowd then I'd definitely help you out...it's all based on cost and reward

I live in the suburbs and Walmart is signicantly cheaper than any other store around here, and we have plenty of places to shop. I am not surprised that Walmart treated you that way, they aren't about the customers. They are about having low prices to blow out the competition, and I love that part of it.

Sorry about your accident, but did you really think Walmart would have done anything else without a bigger threat of a lawsuit?

I contacted an attorney with some questions and I was basically told that it would be a waste to do anything because I wasn't hurt bad enough. I guess you'd have to be almost dead to be able to do anything worthwhile!

Keep looking. Most of these lawyers want 33% of money that they don't have to earn. You don't have to be maimed to sucessfully sue their buts, just find a lawyer who is willing to work for their money. They are rare, but they do exist.
