arswihart and all others interested,

Just got mine today. Ordered thru a friend in CA 'bout 10 days ago. This refurbished AIW 9700 Pro got to my friend in about 2-3 days. After that it had to cross the great Pacific Ocean. That took about a week.

In my case (so far - have not tested the card) it's worth the relatively long wait. Mine came in a simple brown box with comple cables as pictured at Newegg. Remote, Catalyst software CD, 4 cheap batteries for remote, quick installation guide AND Yes - the DVI to VGA adapter.

For the past 10 days I was worried that I'd also just get the video card by itself, as I (thru my buyer) was one of the last ones to place an order for this unit. Will let you if everything works out fine..

Nice, congrats Mysteryozo

So you didn't a couple of the pictured cables, though, just the most important stuff?

Wanted to compare 'apples to apples' but the AIW 9700 Pro is currently not available. I'm looking at newegg's page for new AIW 9800 pro. Seems like I got one more cable (ATI:6110006800) not shown in picture. I'm also trying to check what other CDs I've missed aside from the games. Pinnacle Studio I guess.

So far the VC is not DOA. I'm currently using it with downloaded drivers from ATI with the exception of the current Catalyst.

My total cost $99 + 1 + 5% service fee + 15 airfrieght to Manila = $120 = still a sizzling hot for me!

Refurbished AIW 9700 Pro available again for $189 + 1

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102250R

That no longer 'hot' - warm to lukewarm, maybe! With new pictures

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ShowImage...20AGP%204X/8X%20Video%20Card%20-%20OEM

Compare to what is now shown here, I'm now missing that red color cable.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Showimage...128MB+DDR+AGP+4X%2F8X+Video+Card+-+OEM

Compare to what is shown here, I don't have the manual, Morrowind CD, Mediator CD and as mentioned, Pinnacle

Hmmm - same refurbished model but for $10 less and picture does not show the 3 CDs that I did not get -

Or, how 'bout this refurbished AIW 9600XT for $89

I don't think the 9700AIW is even worth considering over $150.

isekii - I think its clear at this point that getting accessories with these AIW refurbs is a big gamble, current results show about a 50/50 chance of getting them or not.

wtf newegg raped me on this deal. when i got my 9700aiw pro, it didn't come with anything except the card itself. that's ok since there was no gaurantee anyway. what's worst was that it was defective so i had to send it back for RMA. now they tell me it's out of stock and discontinued so they're just gonna refund me the money. i guess i'm in the negative from the return shipping on that crap vcard.. :|

The remotes go for about $25 on ebay (with shipping) and the purple breakout box goes around $15. I am still trying to figure out what I would need for the video out on this beast as the connection isnt svideo in the back.

It's not the purple break out box.
That's for input I believe.

Out put is a black cable with several connectors coming out of it.

Would the 9600XT be better for gaming than the 9800? I have all of the accessories from an AIW 7500 that would appear to work with 9800, so I could risk not getting them with that card. The 9600XT doesn't use a standard DVI out or DVI-VGA adapter though, so it may be more difficult to find the black cable it uses for output.

Well, not only did this card not come with accesories or a driver cd, but at ati's site they want you to have an original driver cd to be able to verify to download the media center. I am calling them tomorrow and if they dont give me a way to make the tuner work this thing goes back to the egg! They do sell the cd for 12.95 plus shipping but the drivers are outdated on it, bs if you ask me. Even if I ordered the cd by the time it came I would not have any time to see if this works on the 7 day refurb return rule.

The risk of an AIW card without accessories is not worth $100 to me.. Maybe half that, but then again what could we get on Ebay for it?
