This was an unfortunate incident, but those of you who are calling for the heads of the thieves are really blowing it out of proportion. This is not a case for frontier justice (if there is such a case) - it does not appear the thieves intended to use violence, but instead violence was introduced into the equation by Chris' sister. I am not blaming her for her reaction, but her behavior was foolish and could easily have gotten her killed (of course, her death would quite correctly have been blamed on the thieves, who would be looking at Murder One). This case has all the earmarks of a crime perpetrated by stupid drug addicts, not sinister professional criminals.

I am the furthest thing from liberal when it comes to violent crime (in addition to the fact that I am a prosecutor for a living, I have been violently mugged, and had a friend murdered, in addition to having several people threaten to kill my mother, who has been a judge for 19 years), but this was just not the crime of the century. If someone were foolish enough to provide Chris with the information he seeks, he or she would be legally responsible as an accessory before the fact for any violent acts he perpetrated against the thieves. The fact that he posted the request here would be evidence of premeditation, and it is quite likely Chris and the person who helped him would be up on charges. Depending on the severity of his reaction, they might end up in prison, with felony convictions that would make employment a tough prospect for the rest of their lives.

The bottom line: leave this to the police.

EDIT: Chris, I understand your frustration, but your telling me "fucku" just reinforces my point that you are far too upset to take action here. Nothing good will come of it. Focus your energy on caring for and supporting the victims here, not on some misguided effort at justice.

Its amazing to see all the people that are willing to take the life, or the limb of another human being on here. Could you live with yourself? These people made a mistake yes, and they should be punished. But to chop off a limb, to permanently maim someone, or worse, kill them, for a mistake that did not include the same? Could you do that, could you show that persons family why they desired such a horrid punishment? Could you tell that persons sister, aunt, grandma, why they deserved death, or why they had to lose a hand? Could you face those facts yourself? If your uncle came home without a hand one day, would you agree with the punishments? Jail time and a fine allows for these people to correct the mistakes and never do them again, while at the same time being punished.

Too many of you are too willing to dole out punishments left and right and never think about others that are involved.

And death will make sure they don't do it again.

I can see you either
1) Cannot read
2) Do not understand the message.

Or 3) Don't really want assholes who perform armed robbery to get back into society. How about a guy making the mistake of raping your 3 year old daughter, will you still be pleading for a mild fine and 2 years jailtime?

Edit: If the crime is thought over there is no excuse.

i like it when i come into a thread and get really angry about something and then someone posts something exactly what i would have said except way better.

so often here people are so quick to scream about how they would punish people who make mistakes like they have never made mistakes before.

raping a 3 year old and theft are two very different things.

Let me give you a piece of friendly advice: don't come on a public message board, soliciting strangers to assist you in felony-level criminal activity. You are acting like a moron. If I ever find out that you "succeed" in getting the help you request and that violence results, I will personally do everything in my power to see that you and the person who provides you with the information are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law (something I feel is my duty as an officer of the court).

Yes it is. But if you decide to undertake a criminal act it must be punished. Few years jail will just make sure no empoyer will hire them anymore once they get out, and chances of them repeating themselves are very high. Either don't do it in the first place, or face the consequences.

For rape there should be a punishment worse than death, but I'm not fully awake yet so I can't think of one harsh enough so far.

I often feel that I was born 200 years too late. I long for the simpler days of "Frontier Justice" where if you caught scumbags like these people, red-handed, you simply threw a rope over the nearest tree branch, hung their asses and let the vultures take care of the bodies.

*sigh* America (the country I would die for) has deteriorated so much in the past century...I feel that if we got back to the old ways, things would improve.

About the ONLY thing I admire about the Arab world is their way of dealing with thieves. They cut off whatever hand was holding the stolen goods when the thief got caught. They CUT THE DAMN HAND CLEAN OFF!!! No operation, no sterlization; they hack it off w/a rusty pocketknife if that's all that is available at the time. Way to go!~

It's not your fault, what happened tonight. Fate did it's thing. Be thankful that at least you're there now to take care of them. God bless you all.

ahahahahaha...I hope you're not a follower of the Christian God, since I thought you were supposed to love thy neighbor and love your enemies. I thought it was the Arab God that condoned all that violence.

Thanks for the laugh Texmaster ;)

They punched my MOM in the face!!!!!!!!!!!OMFG!!
If you had been with them, the little turd wouldn't have taken her purse in the first place. I'm with you on breaking their fvcking necks. If you do catch 'em before the cops, shoot em', throw 'em in a hole and cover it up. Nobody will come looking for them anyway, and the world will be a better place. But seriously, what do you suppose is the worst the judge will do to them anyway? BTW, your sister rocks! Tomorrow I'll scan and post a story of a 17yo girl here in Ohio, who caught a guy who was rummaging through their garage. She hog tied the SOB before the cops got there! Man, I'd have wrapped the GD rope around his fvckin' neck! I want her for a daughter-in-law!

You want to hang a guy for rummaging through garbage? ReallY? I had thought you were sane.

Indeed, it is the Christian God who tells you that it's ok to beat up your slave, as long as he/she still lives 2 days later (no problem if he/she dies after that), as you are only damaging your own property.
